You know what ... how good is it that someone at GWS calls up their media people and says 'get this tweet out to address this situation right away' and 9.51pm GWS have made their mark on the conversation?

Carlton needs to be a bit more hands on in this regard.

Is it simply a function of volume? IE there is so much reporting on football that journalists can afford to be lax with the truth...knowing that today's headline will be tomorrow's recyclin/three pages deep in the forum.

Yeah, so many journos, so many bloggers, so many forums with inside information, people start competing for attention with zero time for fact checking. Barrett gets paid to provide information that will fill a segment on a show. Job done and the fall out for being wrong is forgotten by the time next week comes around.

Maybe our social media manager guy (Luca someone) should be on to stuff like that, instead of writing articles for the CFC website......

Luca is a good guy.

They won't correct assertions without approval from above I would suggest.

The counter view is that there is always some truth in the rumours about Carlton and its players and refuting parts of it probably draws more attention to the bits they get right.

We've always been a ducks and drakes club, from drafts and trading, to team selection to injury lists. If they had a little white lie jar at Princes Park, we'd pay off the debt in no time.

there is that.
there's also the fact clubs and agents leak to strengthen / weaken negotiations constantly.
player agents and managers
are testing the waters all season, that is what they're paid for.

leaks are also used by clubs and agents - given how parochial afl is - to 'focus test' ideas before a decision is made.

Or Trigg could do an extended interview the next day on the topic - Luvs the sound of his own voice that bloke. Don't hear much of Hawthorns Fox in comparison as an example.

I'm glad trigg has been so vocal...getting Carlton in the media and increasing communication and transparency to members, which is what we cried out for

Brisbane interested in Kreuzer, club will hear out offers but don't see the big man interested in moving from VIC #blumour

Would ruin their Leuenberger compo ... unless they want to pay enough to ensure he falls short of tier 1 compo.

Yeah I just don't see the Brisbane interest. Firstly, they would nullify any compensation that they would receive for Leuy. Secondly, showing interest in Kreuze would only create more demand for him and thus a higher contract - more likely resulting in band 1 compensation to us. The only way I see it being possible is if they know they are losing both Leuy and Martin and need a quality replacement, but the whole thing makes little sense to me.

Assuming the conspiracy theory that says Carlton will miss out on pick 2 for Kreuzer but bend over backwards to give Brisbane pick 3 for Leuey:

Brisbane trade pick 20 + Aish for Kreuzer.

Carlton then free to explore Selwood and Suckling as free agents.

Carlton pick 1, 19, 20, Aish
Brisbane pick 2, 3, Kreuzer

Not too shabby Azul.

Only thing is leuey might struggle to attract 600k+...
