Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Charlie plus a future 3rd for 10, F1, F2 and Hayward. They can keep florent. He will basically be DFA in 2-3 weeks.

Fair - having said that, you don't think it's telling the Swans want to move him on? Presumably in part to the long term deal we'll now be on the hook for.

How telling was it that we elected to move on Kennedy because he was no longer featuring in our midfield calculations? Was that an indication that he's an overrated spud who offers nothing to another club?

Florent has been singled out by the Swans because they have options in his position and have to make a decision on which ones they want to play. Not which ones are better, mind you - they'll be considering things like salary, skill sets, team balance, age etc. If they have a younger player on less money with a similar skillset, or one that better suits the role they want filled in their side, then Florent gets squeezed. It doesn't mean he's shit, nor does it mean that he wouldn't suit our needs better than theirs.

They're not desperate to get him off the books - they're bloody keen to get Curnow and something has to give.

His value certainly isn't high, but he's not the salary dump that people seem to think, in the sense that his presence isn't actively detrimental to their ability to pay other players what they require (to retain or recruit).

I have a good friend who is a Sydney fan and he thinks Florent is being very underrated when I mentioned the feedback here. He's a pretty good footballer. He is a player who adds to our best side. He is durable and has experience.

If the Swans' future first-round pick and the Blues' No.22 selection were to almost cancel each other out, with the club likely to be a flag favourite if Curnow heads there, the essence of the deal can be nutted down to Curnow for pick 11, Florent and Hayward.

Yes losing Charlie means our ceiling is lower but its not fatal to us, especially given the additional picks

I would expect that the Swans will do the deal without the additional pick 22 for the simple reason as having charlie will defintely make them a threat for next year

tbh having swans pay some of his salary woudl be because they are still demanding pick 22 or some other lowish pick

If we can accomodate florent's salary without it comprisiming future trading and re-contracting then Id rather hold onto the pick

Our coach is the counter productive problem.

Had we sacked him like we should have months ago this Charlie trade is not even happening.

We might agree with him to trade him to Geelong next year if he gives 100% for next year and Geelong come up with an offer on par with whatever Sydney come back with.
Given his preference is Geelong that may be satisfactory for all.
