As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
Rumour - Bluemour File rumours only - NO DISCUSSION

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

Remember ... #Bluemour

Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

He's a jet and worth every penny. Would love to see him in Blue... Him and Noah Anderson.

Hope Tom is prepared for the pressure that comes with that pay packet. Best of luck to him, no ill feelings. He's clearly a much liked member of the group.
This.
None of us here would knock back a pay rise of this size to do the same job.
But he will be under the microscope even more than he has been this year.
Needs to become the very best ruckman in the comp on that money.

He has an offer for 26onwards from Carlton well below what the market has valued his worth.
Pretty sure one club has valued TDK $600-$800k above his market value no other club was going to pay anywhere near that, l would argue Saints are being irresponsible, good player but not remotely close to this value.

approx. 500K pay rise.. id be out the door and wouldn't even gather my personal belongings or the awkward goodbyes.

Not just the money they're paying them but quite likely losing players like Windhager and others who are already linked as outa. Quite the expenditure to make it happen

so can we negotiate trade for TDK ? i.e. a pick and Marshall ?

Only if we match (to force a trade) whatever contract St Kilda give him. We won’t match because that would mean matching a $1.7+ million a year contract. The only thing we will receive is draft pick compensation.

Last year StKilda offered ridiculous money for Finn Callahan and he said no.

17 million over 10 years. They’ve offered this money to a different player every year for the last 5 years and TDK is the only player so far in the AFL who has taken the danger money.

Your zero sum equation is simplistic - otherwise they’d have landed someone the last 5 years by simply offering someone enormous $$
The difference between offering for a midfielder and a ruckman is that the gap is less for the midfielder, makes it easier for him to stay. The gap between TDK's offer and what a quality ruckman's max should be is just too big to say no.

While I think TDK helps make our midfield better and his ground work, when he's on, partly compensates for lack of speed I think we can cover for his loss in other ways from the compensation picks and cap relief.

Good luck to the man, 99%+ of the people on this board would change jobs for a million bucks a year extra.

I get the whole “good riddance” attitude. If a player does not want to be at the club then fair enough, we do not want them here. But we also have to be honest that losing good players hurts us when it comes to game day.

The fact is losing TDK and Jack is a real setback. At the moment there is no sign that we are bringing in genuine replacements. On top of that there is talk about moving on players like Gov, Acres, and with Doc already retired, we are left relying on kids or fringe players from other clubs. Of course we would all love to see them step up, but only a few usually do. To expect a bunch of them to break out in the same year and for us to get through a season without major injuries just is not realistic.

Then there is the hope that a new footy manager and some new assistants are going to dramatically change who we are. I hope so, but this too is unproven.

That said we will probably still hang on to enough of our top end talent to avoid finishing in the bottom six. The question is what are we really doing? Are we drifting into that middle ground where we might scrape into finals if things go right, but never bad enough to get the draft picks needed to start again?

Are we heading towards a 5 year stint of being 'mid'? Bag the Saints all you like but rightly or wrongly, at least they are being aggressive and making things happen for them.

If someone offered you 2 million dollars to support a different team, would you?

So if I am understanding the TDK compo (Band 1) correctly, we are due to receive Pick 9? The compo is one pick after our final ladder position, which right now is Pick 8 (St Kilda won’t beat GWS).

Forgive me in advance if it has been discussed already, presuming (in all likelyhood) TDK leaves, we get 1st round compensation. Fine. Obvious. What would Jack Silvagni net us in return if he did the same?

So much praise for St Kilda gambling on NWM and TDK, what if either or both sustain a long-term injury? A ridiculous strategy for mine, especially when it could not be clearer that NWM will not be there for the long haul anyway.

"Pay me $2m a year for two years and I'll think about staying, I pinky promise!"

the saints prob said give us two years, if we are not in contention after then, you can restrict free agent your ass wherever you want to go with our blessing.

Also his parents picked up that bayside house $50k, the owner was super desperate. what are the chances ?

St Kilda have been treated like the make a wish kid all year by the media. It’s like they feel sorry for them that their numerous attempts to attract other players failed dismally.

So good for footy when NAS re-signs they say blah blah.

Yet when De Koning wants to leave that it’s all well and good, St kilda can enjoy him.

Nothing been said about De Koning’s piss weak efforts since about round 8. Apparently the Saints just need to get the best out of him.

Then apparently we need to trade all of our good players.

It’s laughable.

Had a lot of junk possessions in the back half in 2022.

Last year he had 21 disposals, would hardly say he did a lot.

His season this year would be the perfect description of a guy who performs well when the team is flying but isn’t very impactful when they’re not.

Far too inconsistent for the money he is paid. Sydney paid overs because he was such a strong flight risk.
The player ratings accounts for junk stats and values when it matters. He had one of the highest rated grand finals ever, that doesn't happen by a few cheapies at the end of the game.

He hasn't even had that bad a year, it's been pretty consistent. This idea he's only lifted since the rest of the crew came back is wrong, they're just winning now so it's noticeable. In fact, you'll find his DE% and metres gained were better prior to mid/late yr when everyone returned, as were his CP numbers and goal assists.

People don't like Chad because he's got a healthy dose of FIGJAM about him, but he backs it up and always has.

Not unless we offer TDK $1.7m per season (i.e match the St Kilda offer) at which point I suspect TDK would say, hell yeah I'll take the same pay to play at the same club.. meaning we then couldn't trade for Marshall.

So no, no option to negotiate. The money is too high.
