I'll paraphrase and simplify.

Source: Carlton supporter, acquainted with Luke Sayers.

Staff and players are divided 50/50 about Sayers departure. There have been a lot of bad reactions and some huge rifts have opened up. Some very immature and unprofessional reactions have gone down. Source personally does not approve of what Sayers did, so doesn't seem like a propaganda rumour.

This is already running hot in the discussion thread, but pasting here for the record

Intresting things happening at the club, and not in a good way. Voss and an assistant not seeing eye to eye and it got VERY heated. More than words were exchanged.

Hamill was the assistant that clashed with Voss.

One of his old teammates had a crack at both of them.

The person in question was a teammate of Hamill, played in our last premiership, was a gun on the wing, was one of the best at getting under players skin, coached at the Crows, lives in Adelaide, has twin boys, one played in his first game for us against the Tigers, need any more clues??

Multiple sources confirming he had a 'bit to say' and he is qualified to do so, in my opinion.

Another bit of info from someone who is unlikely to post it here themselves. This one has Carlton insiders written all over it, but I can't verify and I take no responsibility for it. My feeling is that since it doesn't make accusations that are damaging to an individual in a legal or reputation sense, it is fair game.

I read the discussion thread and saw someone allude to this in a long list of events that have occurred around the club, so this just adds to the noise.

The info is that Harry McKay is set to take indefinite leave. This backs up what another poster has said.

Of course, I hope it isn't true ... because damn it all to hell, burn this season to the ground.

Have it on good authority that Austin will “resign” (forced out) in the coming months. Agresta call to be made by new list boss but unlikely to survive. Wright rates our list as bottom 8 quality with poor depth and ridiculously unbalanced. Nothing groundbreaking that we don’t already know, just sharing what I’ve been told.

2. Harry being aggressively pursued by Sydney.

3. The club is no wiser re: TDK, never held any indication he was going to sign by a certain date.

Comment to me after the Pies game.

Voss will be safe while Cook is in charge. If things don't improve he won't be safe once Wright takes over

Whatever happens there will be big changes to coaching structure at years end

Following on recent rumours. I have hassled a few people that normally know for any info

1. Voss safe at moment. No movement to remove him at all
2. Many internal believe TDK will stay even though lot of outside noise he will go. Carlton won't lift offer
3. Definite changes coming with coaching group. Not cohesive and Wright believes it's lacking in several areas
4. No issues or complaints around LM. Feel is Austin has put us in a good spot especially SC wise
5. I can't get anyone that can confirm H to Swans rumour (doesn't mean it's not happening)
6. Looking at possibly 2 additions in MSD
7. Spoken with many people re: Football Boss
8. Elijah has really dealt with "issue" in last 6 weeks. Impressive change in attitude and focus although it's an ongoing battle
9. Mentioned that some believe change in fitness focus could well mean much improved second half of year

Final comment. I spoke late last night with someone very involved at club. Knows there stuff and never says much

I vented my frustration re: Gameplan, structure etc

His comment was, understandable, and many would support my comments BUT there is also people internally that are frustrated with depth, skill level, development and blame that as much if not more

For all the discussion about coaching, development, LM etc on here it seems even internally no one agrees 100% on what the issues are

Also said players like and respect Voss a lot. Questions are more around can he (and his assistants) match it with other coaches for game plan and match day changes

On TDK & others ...

Real holding pattern for two reasons.

1: Waiting on TDK

2: Waiting on the AFL to finalise what the NGA and Father son rules are going to look like going forward.
We have Dean, Ison and Clarke this year and Cody next.
Dean is a top 30, Ison is to if he can stay fit enough for more than 2 quarters. Clarke could be anywhere from 3rd to rookie.
The following year Cody could go anywhere from pick 1 to pick 3. So lots of balls in the air, but until we know more its a of a wait and see.
No matter how many times you read that Cody is a Carlton F/S and a Richmond NGA, he's a Carlton F/S. It's not even in question.

Club is hoping to have a pretty clear idea of TDKs decision before the MSD as we now have 2 picks available. If we know hes gone, a Ruck on an 18 month Rookie contract will allow us a lot more flexibility that having to go through the circus at seasons end.
If TDK leaves, whilst wanting to add mature talent, the club is loathed to chase a FA as it will ofset the compo pick.

I'm not sure where the Walsh stuff has come from, but I haven't heard even a whisper about it.

Will have some more MSD info in a couple of weeks.

We've set our price, we aren't changing it. It would make him the highest paid player at the club, but it is $600k a season less than St Kilda's offer. End of the day, loyalty can only stetch so far. His heart wants to stay, his head, his wallet, his management and just about anybody in the world is telling him he can't stay.

I would love for him to stay. It's hard for us normal folk to comprehend considering I'm pretty confident that most of us would be happy with the Carlton offer if one compares it to relative earnings outside of professional sport, which is fair, I can put my hand up and say I work a lot more hours for a lot less. But at the same time, I have (hopefully) more than 12 years in my career, and whilst sometimes I like to put a bit of mayo on how dangerous my mundane job is, I'm not really at a particular high risk of a career ending injury.

So there is a bit more to it than just eye boggling figures, not all AFL players, or should I say, not many AFL players have the.... world acumen... to put it nicely, to transition into another career post football.

1. Club not budging on offer for TDK (it’s actually less than what’s been reported on here).

2. Assumption at this stage is that he is leaving and taking the $$ elsewhere.

3. Mentioned in the media during the week that TDK’s contract negotiation is impacting other Carlton player deals … however it’s also holding up a potential deal for a very good player that we have lined up already, and can only bring in if TDK leaves.

4. Focus last year was beefing up high performance, this year the club will look to strengthen the list management team (add to, rather than replace).

From someone on the weekend who would know. Nothing we don’t already suspect but interesting to hear it from another perspective.

• Voss is not perfect but he’s not the biggest problem
• inconsistency across his tenure due to fluctuating factors some which he doesnt directly control. ie. injuries; list gaps; big contracts; also identified adding “layers” to game plan was messy.
• playing group is connected and together. enough talent on the list but big discrepancies in hunger/ commitment across the group. Mentally fragile - not just from a toughness perspective but the ability to fulfil basics week to week.

Some feedback from some genuine Carlton ITK people on Friday night

No one truly knows what TDK will do. Most believe he is still deciding and it’s 50/50. He loves Carlton but the money is massive

Docherty’s future is unclear. He is giving his best. Feel is if we are struggling by MSD he could easily retire

Austin & Co preparing for possible Two picks in MSD. Newman/Docherty/Fantasia status will determine. Games against Swans GWS could well determine

Rumour Cottrell has very bad injury?

Wright speaking with a lot of football people. Changes will happen

Lot of $$ being allocated to improve recruiting and development in 2026

Very happy with Rob McInnes. Benefits are showing

Cook already handed a lot of things to Wright

SC is great spot and we are into 1-2 very good players. If TDK leaves we will go hard on 2-3 players. Don’t expect us to go to draft. We have some more than handy FS, NG players and apparently draft isn’t great?

Many believe Doc Saad to retire by end of year. Newman will play on

Kemp injury was bad. Attitude great and already on gym. Wants to be ready by pre season which would be ahead of schedule
