Not earth shattering, but I was told by someone close to the situation to not expect Elijah to be at the club next year. Others have previously suggested this.

I was told there have been issues, but NOT the type routinely speculated about online. I don't know what they are. Simply put, this person said we won't keep him.

I have it on good authority, that is from someone I know that during the week a Perth based Physio did medicals for Carlton on two players, one from Fremantle and one from West Coast. Don’t know who the players are however.

I was at the game tonight invited to the Bombers President function. Ran into Elijah walking past the room. Shook his hand, asked how he was going and asked if he was going to be at the Blues next year. Without hesitation, he said 100% I will be.

Was told the below last night from a recent ex-player... Only passing on what I was told:

1) GW's summary is that the club culture is toxic and needs repairing. Has made it known to the players that none of them are bigger than the club.

2) Players given a 'shape up or ship out' ultimatum, with a focus on team-first mentality

3) Saints front runners for JSOS

4) Voss gave Charlie a baking a few times during the season, more-so about his poor off-field attitude. Tipping point was Charlie riding his bike into the North game when he had a minor injury complaint earlier in that week.

5) Behind the scenes, we're open to trading Curnow. Our public position is just the usual fun and games. Will only trade him for well overs. Sydney the front runners.

6) Cripps likely to stand down as Captain. The role has exhausted him mentally, hence his absence in media roles this year.

A real sense of optimism and buzz being created by the women’s program.

I’ve been told the playing group has effectively split into two camps.


1. The Monogram / Voss Supporters
These are the players who back the club if not Michael Voss specifically and don’t want to go through yet another coaching merry-go-round. Based on the public comments we’ve heard this year, it’s not hard to work out which players are in this group, even if they’ve been linked to moves elsewhere.


2. The anti-Voss camp.
These are the players who wanted the blame for the club’s struggles placed squarely on Voss. They’ve shown a lack of professionalism and accountability, and just as we’ve identified members of the first group, it’s becoming clear who belongs here as well.

Of course, some players sit in the middle. Some are too young or inexperienced to have much influence, while others are at a stage of their careers where it simply doesn’t matter as much. For instance, it’s pretty clear where Weitering and Walsh stand right now—though with Walsh, you get the sense that if things don’t improve next year, he already has an exit strategy in mind. Cripps, meanwhile, may be thinking more about life after football. His legacy as one of Carlton’s greats is secure, premiership or not, and he knows better than anyone that success at that level is beyond his individual control now.
