I was just watching it on Optus. Blues by a point. Damn!!! I was switching between the Colonial stadium match and the Blues-Freo match. Both were great games. That match "could" have made the Dockers season if they had won. Imagine what a victory over the second best side in the land would have done for them. I felt so sorry for Damian Drum. Even though I despise Carlton, I thought they were pretty lucky. The Dockers led for the majority of the night and only relinquished the lead late in the last quarter.

5 games so far and 4 of them have been decided by less than a kick! What a start to the season!

Well what can you say.
I could blame, modra's lack of free kicks
Or the fact we lost Bell so early in the game.

But the fact remains that the difference was experience.Players like Silvagni, Bradley and Allan in the end made all the difference.Fremantles equilivant Hasebly, Pavlich and Longmuir simply didnt have the experience in the end.Though all three will be absolute stars in the future. There youth shone threw in the dying stages.

That said Fremantle can stand tall.
All over the ground there were winners.Modra kicked 5 goals, Koops and Pavlich were constant threats.Brown killed Fevola, and played well on SOS.

All in all a good game.

Well that just sums up Fremantles AFL history. A whole bunch full of unfulfilled potential and "could ofs". We keep hearing from Freo each year "this will be our year...we got a good side this time round" yet they still end up 13th somehow. Thats why Freo aren't going to be succesful for a while...they never win the close games, or the games that matter. A good team wouldnt lose from their position in front on their home ground.

Silly comment, Dan25.

One game does not "make" anybody's season. Especially not at this stage of the year.

Look on the bright side, Freo.
You're playing us next week.

What's better than winning any game by 100 points? Winning it by 1 point!

I'll take the four points. Wipe my brow. Say very bad luck to the Dockers. Predict that other teams are going to have a tough time playing them over there. And thank God for having some experienced players standing tall when it counts. Add to that list, Houlihan, who was sensational.

Freo were robbed by at least one obvious umpiring decision, but all clubs get their run of bad luck... plus I'm not sure if Brett Rosebury was the umpire to make the call on Modra being held, so Freo can't blame the Victorian umpires!

Would Fremantle come into their clash against Collingwood favorites?

Listened to it last night on the radio and it seemed like a pretty good match! Nice close affair with lots of goals being scored and a few nice pieces of play. Will be interesting to see how Freo plays next week interstate against Collingwood.

Probably not.
But they damn-well should start favourites.

I think a lot of our supporters think we've got this won already.
Just like last year

Freo WILL win next week.
And Freo WILL make the finals this year.

Ladies and gentlemen. The oracle has spoken.
The same person who predicted that the Kangaroos would beat Essendon by 84 points!!!

IF FREO NEVER WIN THE CLOSE GAMES THEN LET ME REMIND YOU OF THE 1 POINT VICTORIES OVER THE EAGLES AND RICHMOND FROM LAST YEAR

I'm aware of that Alf. I have made constant mention of my belief that the best team of the season over 22 weeks should be rewarded. However, a first up win in front of your home fans would be great for membership, confidence and belief. It's also good for the small matter of 4 points!

Sometimes a shattering loss can have far worse effects than just the deprivation of 4 points. I don't think that will be the case for Freo, and their performance is sign for encouragement, but a win for them to open the season would have given them a spring in their step, that they now won't have.
