You know what. Some people can't handle the truth. When those arguements happen and threads derail and mods start booting people, is just unfair and can be avoided. This thread is going to help that. Bring it, here.

Why so envious of this thread?
It's your opinion, not the truth.

So you would have preferred that we go after Cooney when his knees are shot and pay him an obscene contract like Essendon are doing, essentially ruling us out of a play for a genuinely great player at the end of 2015?
Glad you aren't in charge
Giving an example doesn't mean it was my preference.

Again, some specific examples maybe? You're assuming there were suitors willing to pay a reasonable price. What if we did shop Vickery but all we were offered was pick 50? Would you still have traded him to teach him a lesson?
StKilda was interested in Griffiths previously and therefore one of StKilda's second round picks for Griffiths could have be a good result as we may end up with too many tall forwards competing for 1-2 spots.

As I say I would like to be proven wrong for both of them have a breakout year. There were signs at the end of last season, possibly why the coach said they were both required players. Would be worth considering in next trade period if they both are not regulars and McBean forces himself into the seniors.

Who though? What's the point in criticising the club for inactivity without offering some specific examples of what they 'should' have done?
Franklin was available at one point.

I'll rattle some names that could have improved our list significantly.

Xavier Ellis, Eddie Betts, Colin Sylvia, Brendon Goddard.

Losing white is a huge mistake that is warranted criticism.

I however do give kudos in getting players like Chaplin and Knights. They were well played gets and improved the list but I think we could be doing better.

Firstly nice troll.
Secondly, you are clueless. The "big fish" hasn't been bandied about since the Greg Miller days. It's called free agency, and it only works when you target the right players see: Maric, Houli, Grigg. And our use of the rookie list has also been fantastic. See Miles, Pettard, Thomas etc.
Thirdly, trading for the sake of trading is what set this club back. If you know what we have done in the past (which i'm not sure you do) you'd remember how well trading picks for Sanchez worked out for us.
Fourthly, we have just made consecutive finals for the first time since the 70's, so clearly the list is developing.
And lastly, it's not the truth your saying, all you are saying is it's your truth (spot the difference). Now go pack your lunch and school bag and consider yourself schooled.

Griffith's I think will prove you wrong.2nd round not enough for him IMO. Just my opinion but we will see.

We can't have superstars in every position and a superstar CHF costs a fortune generally that would put Boyd in the shade. So even if Griffith's is a threatening support player as part of the overall forward/team setup at value that can be damaging at times he still is a very important versatile player for us given we can't have Cola.

St Kilda, who traded out Stanley for pick 21. Why would they turn around and trade that same pick for a similar player in Griffiths? It makes no sense for them.

I feel threads like this are often made by people who like to feel they know better than those at the helm, but when you press them, they're quite unsurprisingly full of shit.

Apart from trading in Hampson, some flippant drafting in later rounds and maybe not pursuing 1 or 2 free agents who could have made us better (Goddard and Dal Santo come to mind, but perhaps it wasn't the right time to slot them into our pay structure), there's not a lot this club has done wrong over the past half decade. Not any more than the clubs at the top anyway. The problem is, good decisions often take time to make a tangible impact.

Simply Griffith's is rated well ahead of Stanley by some including me. Mind you Stanley is a different type of player to be fair.

Wouldn't it have been useful to spend that FTF for that big fish already rather than next year?
Since when can we spend FTF cash on player salaries?
