Very hard.

Seriously think Boak is underrated. I think both of them will become elite midfielders.

Boak has better pace and run and carry, but Gibbs has better skills and probably better versatility as he can play back effectively as well.

I think my choice would depend on what type of player you need in your midfield.

I also think Boak is fairly underrated, he does a great job for Port but I think when Gibbs plays in the midfield (and I mention that because he should spend most of his time there from now on) he is clearly better.

Gibbs doesn't have the proven midfield capability that Boak does - While he'll probably figure that out, he hasn't shown it yet.

Travis Boak is tougher too - Almost double the tackle numbers.

Good comparison, right atm I'd say Boak, he's been a more consistent performer, but if and when Gibbs plays in the midfield he will become the better player

people speak as though gibbs has never done well in the midfield... 09? around 25 disposal average and 15 brownlow votes ring a bell???

gibbs is ahead on performance, and clearly... but i think i would JUST take Boak
People have short memories and choose to ignore his talent because of the stigma created in one of his first games. So naturally that defines any future performance and that he is soft. And because he played as a defender in 2010 all of his disposals are considered 'cheap' even if they are not.

Gibbs cops a lot of unfair criticism of which he will leave behind this year with a move to the midfield.

Yes, he does, he just didn't play there in 2010. He had an excellent year as a midfielder in 2009, better than Boak has done yet.
I disagree.

Boak has proven capability as an inside midfielder, and has shown a greater propensity to tackle than Gibbs. Gibbs may have had more of the ball in 2009 than Boak did in 2010, but Boak had more tackles, more contested possessions and more first possessions and clearances.

Gibbs is capable of much more, but at the moment he's coasting.

Gibbs is a better outside player, Boak is a better inside player. You pick the one which your team needs more. Pretty simple.

Priddis probably had better stats in those areas too. Boak is a very good player, but when Gibbs has played in the middle he's been better.

You state that like it's a fact, when it's anything but.

Boak > Gibbs.

See how easy it is to state either way?

I like what I've seen from Boak to this point, and most people voting agree with me.

Of course it's not going to be proven as fact. Why do Collingwood fans all discuss things like they're twelve years old?

Gibbs had an outstanding season in the midfield in 2009, he was top ten in the Brownlow and behind only Judd and Murphy as our best midfielder. Boak has been a good solid midfielder for his whole career but he hasn't had a season as good as Gibbs in 2009 yet.

Gibbs plays for Carlton, which means he's no good.

Gibbs has been better so far. Not by a long way but there's a big enough gap between them that you notice it.

Boak is probably the only player on our list who is overrated (Based on his performances.)

He apparently struggled with injury this year so while he was still getting touches, his kicking was wasteful. He seemed to shake it in the last few rounds though and really started playing some good footy. Ran and carried more and kicked 6 goals 2 behinds from the last 2 games.

Could have a breakout year next year, I can see him developing into a similar sort of player to Cooney over time.

Don't know who to vote for though.

If I could take 1 at Collingwood, it would be Boak. Such a smooth mover & so clean with the ball, he kind of reminds of Pendlebury, although he plays a different game. I feel though he is a bit overrated but has elite traits.

Not a fan of Gibbs. He's generally lacking any prescence & his disposal is very hit & miss.

Brownlow votes is not a valid mode of juding whether 1 player had a better season than another. If that is the case, Carlton supporters would agree with me that Woewodin had Kouta covered in 2000.

Strange post. The positive attributes u assign boak are gibbs' strongest points. His disposal is also first class.
