Massive news.

I honestly don't think we have a replacement ready.
This.

However, if we are to actually go anywhere, Ollie is the heart and soul of the team and midfield. He is the player who will drive our fortunes. So while he may not be ready, and his performances may not have been quite good enough, but it's time. If he fails, we will fail whether he is Captain or not. So lets give the man a chance to lead us.

Honestly this has come 12 months later than I would have liked but it's still good to hear. Absolute class player and one of the most important in ports AFL history.

Hope to get more out of him next year now we can actually rest him when needed without it being a big deal, and him being able to focus more on his footy.

I reckon TJ or Wines would both be great choices, the other should be vice. Probably very slightly prefer Wines.

If neither of them give it to Butters

Power's longest-serving captain steps down after six years
PORT Adelaide will have a new captain in 2019 after Travis Boak stepped down after six years in the role.
Boak, 30, has captained the club for 137 games since taking over from Dom Cassisi in 2013.
Six years into the job I think it’s the right time to hand it over to the next person, whoever that is," Boak told the club's website.
"I've hit 30 now and I’m at the back end of my career so I think it’s a good chance for a change of direction.
"The club is in a good position with everything that’s been set up off the field and on the field with all the players we’ve got in in the past few years, so it’s a perfect opportunity for the next person to come in and take the lead and push the group forward."

Build a statue and immortalise Boak at Alberton!

Not for his playing achievements but for knocking back the Geelong offer when he had every reason to leave the PAFC in that dark period.

Would that have been the straw that broke the camels back?

Joking about the statue but really, this guy has had a massive influence on our club that cannot be overlooked due to playing achievements alone.

Right decision, never the "right" time but as good a time as any, with all the changes in personnel and (hopefully) game plan. Would dearly love to see Trav get back to his best and hold his spot on form, he can really lift the midfield when firing. Congratulations to Travis and the Club for the way this was handled, he deserved to go out on his own terms.

Like many, I thought he would be our next Premiership captain. I don't think it's in any way a slight on him that this wasn't to be.

Well done Trav. You led us to some exciting times and then unfortunately back again (not your fault).

You led with dignity and bravery. My kids adore you. You always gave your very best and led the way.

Last but by no means least, we had the best looking captain in the league for a long time (although Cotch was easy to look at too).

Sad to see him step down, especially without a premiership.

I really hope he has a big year with more midfield time.
