interested to see the votes of all of us here at bigfooty, members or not.

As much as I don't want off field problems, I think Butters has run his race, did a great job to get us debt free however does seem to have the capacity to take us to the next level. NAthan Burke and Andrew Thompson have been fantastic St. Kilda people and have had to deal with ridiculous amounts of off field issues in their time so I doubt they would go ahead if they knew it would see us even ever so slightly take some backwards steps.

It also interests me that a current board member has joined the ticket, perhaps a reflection on where he thinks the current board is at??

Sorry to repost:

People, do not vote on the personality of the president. People make mistakes, and learn from them. Vote on the ability of the president and his board to run the club and keep us in the black. Without profit there would be no ability to have an increased football department without risking the financial, and therefore existance, of the club.

Speak up for what you believe and send a message, but consider that sending a message to the current board to make spending amendments may be the best outcome.

The proposed ticket seem to be making it up as they go and have already changed deadlines for media conferences. I will wait to see if they bring any solutions to what they cite as problems, but please take a rational approach to this decision, not one based purley on emotion and the dissapointment of not making the finals this year.

We need a board that is in place for a long period of time to build stability. Make the decision, can this board deliver for the next 10 years, do they have the bredth of knowledge from varying influences to do this, or will they too be up for challenge in three years?

I trust that we will all appreciate the balance between winning and cash flow in the modern era.

I think it would be worth starting a new poll in another thread and choosing to make the poll public so that it's only for Saints supporters and we can get an idea on how our fellow supporters are thinking.

thompson is only doing this so he has something to do "After football" - still wants his face on tv!!

these other guys just want to take over the good work buttress has done and spend all the cash he has made for the club, then they can go - see we are the saviours of st kilda!!

did i hear correct about one of the rules being everyone at "board level has to be drug free"??? like... wtf???

hater, im not saying they are, but do you want the guys runnign your local club to be making important decisions while under the influence!?

Thompson being a part of the challenge makes me think that it may be what several members of the current playing group are thinking. He just retired so he's really still looking at the whole thing from a players perspective. Do the players think the board should move on??

Thompson has a full time stockbroking position ... he's got something to do.

Nathan Burke is in a highly paid consultancy job and works in the media, and was sufficiently concerned to give his name and time to the alternative. The most loyal club legend imaginable.

The rule about being drug free ... implies that the current board is not ... which might not be so far from the truth ... allegedly that is ...

Proof? Thought not. Pissweak innuendo from SFF.

I'm in neither camp as yet, but the current board's record is there to see. All we have from SFF is gunnas ... gunna spend more, gunna do better. The unanswered (as yet, to be fair) question is how are you gunna ...?

I think it is more referring to alcohol. A bit over the top and making a stand against a no issue, in my opinion.

However, board room drug use would be not more or less prevelent to that of any company, and less than finance and banking. And much less than some media and ex playing personalities who dive in in a regular manner...

Exactly. I rally do hope we get some answers from both parties as to how to fix these issues that have arisen, if they need to be.

Let's hope we come out of it stronger and in a decade long stabel and wealthy position.

i think that butteress should leave for a couple of reasons all he cares about is profit margines. we were 11th in the comp for footy department. beveridge needs more scouts and staff. medicos need more staff. and he says they are pumping money into the footy department when ross lyon said we need to put alot more into out footy department and buttress clearly ignored him we had 25 players to choose from against hawthorn the first time and three of them were debutants that says to me he is talking crap and also in thomopson thinks that the new board needs a change up and is leaving his good job to help the club then i seriouly think we should take on the new board and not to mention all the offield dramas caused by buttress.

Hi people.....hope you dont mind me butting into something so important, my husband and in-laws are all Saints, so i've been following this with interest.....as I (we) see it, while Butterss has certainly turned the club around financially, the last 18mnths he seems to have allowed personal issues to turn your club upside down......and this seems to have had a flow on affect right down to the players....unfortunately Ross Lyon is caught in the middle...nothing to do with him, but,........to see Nathan and Andrew speak up for this new alliance tells us they feel very strongly that Butterss must go.......another thing, Butterss also seems to like taking legal action against anyone who steps in his way.....that in itself is unsettling to the club...there is far more to a successful club than good finances......ripples in the background just grow bigger and bigger.....the cause must be dealt with...I like the Saints, so I really hope things are settled for the best of the club......cheers and good luck..

St Kilda Footy First is starting to dominate this poll. RB is getting a huge hiding!

I wonder how many of the votes were serious? Because amoung st.kilda supporters, it seems to be a very tight battle.

MacMum, let us not forget personal agendas with retired football players! And that legal avenues are, unfortunately, the way of the future to prorect ones club. I would even say that RB's one glaring error is the legal avenues he has not pursued. The handling of Sirengate and the recent Baker suspension simply would not have occured with the larger clubs.

Thanks for you comments though, i think we are all hopig tha we somehow come out of this squeeky clean.

That you Rod?? ...... Are you implying that Nathan and Andrew have personal agenda's? .. They dont strike me as people who would push there own barrows.... They come across as men of integrity and honesty, men who would not get involved in something unless they fully believed in what they were doing........also sound like they have brains capable of thinking independantly, and making their own judgments of a situation...I dont think either of them would be easily led into something, unless they wanted to be IMO..

Not Rod but I am a fan of his, as regulars here will know.

Thompson no longer has an afl career, and burke is know to be self centred (see additional game played to over take Stewart Loewe), so it would not suprise me.

This Footy First ticket so far seems disorganised, even though it was their initiative, and lack any solutions. Not good for the club as far as I am concerned.

The poll breakdown:

Of the 42 for SKFF, 21 are saints supporters, 20 other teams and 1 unknown.
Interesting that of the 20 others, 25% are from our reserves team (carlton)
Good to see them taking an interest.

The 5 supporting the current board are all saints supporters.

No, but Thompson has worked as a stockbroker for the past three years part-time, and has taken a full time role since his retirement.

Ask Burkey about his success in business in the last couple of years ... he's been doing very well.

To claim that either of them don't bleed red, white and black is ridiculous.

Plus the business experience of Dana Nelson, Greg Westaway and Chris Brant is superior to our current board.

Yes, Butterss and his board have done a good job financially in their time at the helm. But our football department is obviously lacking. And that needs to change for us to be successful on the field. Remember, that's the point of having a football club - to win football games, and iltimately premierships. If Butterss is not prepared to part with the necasary coin to make this happen, then he must go.

I also have a problem with him using his position in the football club to publicly discredit the former coach in what is a personal issue.

i was all for butterss but i am starting to think that Burkie is on the right track. He looked impressive on the footy show the other night plus i feel this is a similar situation to GT where as Butterss and GT set up the club nicely but couldnt quite put them across the line. Footy first is a good policy as we are in our prime age. Butterss has had a tad too much bad media and maybe its best just to get him out as much as i appreciate how much he has done.
