I've never been a massive board game player, aside from maybe chess.
But over the past six months I've tried looking at options for scaling down my recreational screen time.
Also a little concerned about that for my eldest who's 8.
So since then, I've been experimenting with different board games for him, my partner and me.
Keen to get some recommendations from likeminded folk here, for both the kiddo, and us adults.
The kiddo likes the following:
- Catan (probably needs no introduction)
- Zombie Kids Evolution (a campaign lite game where you're students running around a school trying to lock the gates before it gets over-run by zombies)
- Quacks of Quedlinburg (you're all charlatan doctors, trying to create the most elaborate potion brew you can without it exploding)
Haven't introduced him to Ticket to Ride yet, but I reckon that's probably next on the list. Also seems like something like 7 Wonders would be up his alley?
My partner and I have dabbled in Wingspan a bit and keen to expand our horizons.
Personally, I'm not usually much of a fan of fantasy TV shows or novels. But from reviews, I've found the mechanics in Gloomhaven: Eye of the Lion pretty interesting. So I'm willing to challenge my prejudices.
Keen to hear others recommendations.
