This "game" if it is to be called that isnt anything new, been happening for a while. The above case is the clown recording himself however there have been other cases where gangs tape their mates doing it and upload the videos. I cant find the links right now but when I have more time Ill see if I can dig them up.

Once again, in this article, "the game" is only mentioned by the media.

They even quote the attacker's motivation: "That plan is to see if I were to hit a black person, would this be nationally televised?" - that's not "the game", is it?

It's obviously a racially motivated assault, not "the game".

So when I wrote This "game" if it is to be called that isnt anything new, been happening for a while. that didnt resonate with you?

Obviously. You wanted a link proving thugs were recording their king hits, I gave you one.

I was referring to a link to a recording (or any evidence) of "the game", not any old assault. I know those happen all the time.

From the article

Barrett asked the off-duty investigator and the woman with the investigator if they knew about the knockout game. He told them he played earlier that day, then showed them the video, prosecutors allege.

Barrett asked the off-duty investigator and the woman with the investigator if they knew about the knockout game. He told them he played earlier that day, then showed them the video, prosecutors allege.

On his phone, authorities found not only the video of the attack but 10 others, including one where Barrett allegedly says, "The plan is to see if I were to hit a black person, would this be nationally televised?"

He also makes derogatory statements toward African Americans, including one video in which he says that they "haven't fully experienced the blessing of evolution."

In his defense, Barrett's attorney, George Parnham, says his client has severe mental health issues, that he's bi-polar and on heavy medication.

"There's no question that that entered into these particular type of actions. That's not an excuse, that's just real," Parnham said.

We should note that family and friends say the victim is making a full but slow recovery.

Yes maybe this racist, mentally unstable, highly medicated, bi polar man was motivated by some sort of game. I'm sure that's the main reason he assaulted an old black guy.

I have no doubt that anyone that randomly king hits vulnerable strangers has mental issues, maybe bi polar and medicated up to his eyeballs, he still referenced it as the knockout game. You previously stated that the whole game was invented, pushed by the media and doesnt exist. I have no doubt they like to run with it to garner more coverage however this thug (and many others) refer to their cowardly acts as the "game" rendering your previous post incorrect.

Yes, but I'm saying his motivation wasn't "the game" and it was a racially motivated attack. Hence, he has been charged with a federal hate crime.

As you said earlier, these random attacks have always happened. The media has just given it a new name and hyped it up. That's what they do.

" According to the New York Times: "Police officials in several cities where such attacks have been reported said that the 'game' amounted to little more than an urban myth, and that the attacks in question might be nothing more than the sort of random assaults that have always occurred."

Ok if you really think this is a media invention, you can, I'll let it go. I agree that these type of attacks have been happening for ages and to placate you I won't refer to these types of attacks as the "knockout game". However jump on google, YouTube, forums and check out the community reaction and experiences. This is a game or a challenge so to speak, groups of young males from all backgrounds and races are trying to test themselves on whether they can knock someone out with a cold cut to impress their equally moronic mates.

It has garnered extensive media coverage in the States, I was in Boston a couple of years ago and it was a real issue when I was there hence why I said it's not new. Anyway do your searches check out what the actually culprits say and then come back and tell me these assholes actually think it's not a game.

"Analyzing data is not as simple as watching some YouTube videos and Googling 'knockout game.'" And when it comes to the knockout game's supposed popularity, the data is almost entirely anecdotal".
- great advice.

There's simply no evidence or statistics to back up your claim. No amount of cheerleading and going bonkers with the caps lock from GG changes that. If there is, show me.

I've looked on the Internet, so far the only people claiming there is a trend, is the media. It has been denied by law enforcement, who are obviously more informed than the media, and have no reason to deny the truth.

Bob McHugh, a police spokesman in Jersey City, said there had not been a single reported knockout incident there.

“If there ever was an urban myth, this was it,” he said. Still community concerns spurred by the video prompted a member of the City Council there, Candice Osborne, to post on her Facebook page, “there have been NO reported instances of this type of assault.”

The case for “myth” is bolstered further by the fact that the “knockout game” has been cited as far back as 1992, when it was compared to “wilding” as an example of dangerous teen behavior. What’s more, several widely circulated stories concerning the game have been debunked by websites such as Snopes, which note that they have no “verifying information.”

All I ask is check out the clowns actually perpetrating this. It is a game for them. It's not a panic stations situation but it is real and it does happen. There are men, youths and gangs carrying out king hits on unsuspecting victims for sport, they record it and they want it seen. You cited Jersey as one example from law enforcement who for their jobs would not want to glorify it, in fact no police force would want too.

In the end it's your call, either realise there are thugs that actually play this game or be blissfully ignorant and believe it doesn't happen and there are other drivers. It's not as sensationalised as the media make it, it is rare however if you simply don't want want to see it and think its a media invention.....well good for you.

Frontline: Season 1, Episode 3

Scary how relevant this show has become.
One of my kids (14) has been watching it. I've been trying to explain to him how when it was made it was a hugely exaggerated caricature. Now it just looks like a documentary.

however if you simply don't want want to see it and think its a media invention.....well good for you.

Thank you.

And I hope others take the time to critically analyse any news piece they read from the mainstream media.
