Idiotically wrong? He destroyed North & had an unbelievable 35% win rate over his last 4 years there, showcasing his ability to rebuild a club.

We show no semblance of a game plan, & still can’t defend or remotely indicate that it’s a priority, but sure please outline how he’s not a shit coach??
How do you show a semblance of game plan when half the team is sitting in the stands ?

Talk about unrealistic expectations.

C’mon man, that’s a copout. Previous two years? We’ve seen Fly McCrae pick up the Pies from 2nd last to a premiership in one year with a change of on field direction. This is the sort of low expectation pass marks we’ve become conditioned to expecting as a fan base. I’ll put it to you if we didn’t have the injury crisis we’d have finished 12th & out of draft relevance.

35% win rate after… starting a proper rebuild? Like with all the young kids learning their craft and trying to get good picks by trading or retiring your senior players? That’s kind of what you expect in that situation, the goal is not to win that many games.

It wasn’t just the onfield decline at North but his inability to connect the club & players bc he’s a bad communicator, can’t foster talent & still can’t.

To be fair, Pies could have nearly coached themselves. They already had strong culture and leaders and fairly injury free.

No comparison to us.

Past player sent a email telling other past players to pull their heads in and start supporting the club
proudest ive felt as a Dons fan for some time when I heard that. Time for everyone to get on board and stop with the bullshit self interest.

The best success is the actual success.

why? surely a board member having to tell past players to pull their heads and start supporting the club, with the implication being that "hey we've got one of our own in that chair so be nice" should be something that's extremely shameful from the club?

Yeah…we’d have finished 12th because the list is crap and that’s as a result of failures going back a decade.

Andy Gowers came to power at Hawthorn largely on a platform of uniting the factions and bringing people back into the fold. Admittedly he was elected in but it is hardly unheard of for an old boy to come back to a club and for it to actually go well.

I don’t mind it, it’s at least not a repetition of a decrepit old, white businessman, which we’ve tried like 8 times without success.

Yes. Andrew welsh is a young white businessman. Such a change!!

yeah but regardless of that, Solomon sending around an email saying ""get behind him!" is still, ultimately, pretty embarrassing. i don't know how anyone can feel pride about Solomon doing that....except for other ex-players.

Collingwood where a side that had played in a GF in 2018 and had won a final in 2019. Dumb comparison.
They where not trying to rebuild a list at a club that has had 20 years of soft culture with no finals wins.
You really think anyone could have swept us into the top 6 ? If you do then you belong in the delusional thread.
It is not about a pass mark. This year was simply killed by injury. That is a fact. The list is average. That is not on the coach.

Lets just forget about collingwood 3 successive finals appearances and 1 goal from a flag the 3 years before

Its almost like they picked up a guy called Nick Daicos end of 2021

I do laugh at the anger on here around the messaging, or lack there of, with the term rebuild.

Yet, it was only a year or so ago when Scotts taken out of context of a comment around an “8 year build” was so met with such anger from the same people that want the club to do a proper rebuild.
The use of that 8 year quote is so dumb, people should be ashamed to misuse it so badly

He said it’s great to have a group who can play together for the next 8 years

alot of people in the media (and even some suppoerters) misusing the quote know they are, but are happy to do so to push their own narrative.

Considering Lloyd has been the most vocal critic of the football club over the last few years, hearing him talk positively gives me increased confidence that being more united behind the scenes is achievable
There’s past players and there’s coteries and they’re a lot of people collectively. It’s a tough ask to get them all on the same page

100% this. If Lloyd can get onside after this debacle of a year, then I have faith we're headed in the right direction.

True, and it’s unrealistic to expect 100% buy-in from everyone across the board.

They’ve proven over time to be cashed-up groupies & I do think that if we can get buy-in from the ex-players, it does go a long way to taking the air out of the grievances the coteries have.

Great point, calling for unity across the players, who are public faces for the club over the cashed up figures in the shadows shows where Welsh’s focus is. Here’s hoping it provides weight to drive further change forward.
