Every Hawk fan around me clapped him from the ground, and I'm glad they did, because I'd wondered if this sort of show of sportsmanship was beginning to disappear.

Horrible way for a guy to possibly end his career, too.

I watched the game at the pub in Perth with the WA Hawks Supporters & 40 HFC supporters clapped him off the ground (from the pub) as well.

He's universally loved & for all the right reasons. As others have said, he's got stuff to do after footy, but I'd love him to come back to footy & go out on his own terms, whenever that may be.

Bob Murphy is a champion footballer and all class, it was a bit sad to see him like that. He has had serious knee problems before and came back to have a great career and is playing great football, serious blow for them if he is out for the season.

Shows the class of the bloke in that he just got up and got out of the way of the important shot at goal. Plenty of unsportsmanlike athletes would have soaked some time up lying there to ice the player having to take the shot. Classy to the end.

As soon as I saw him lying there I feared the worst he's come back from serious injury before so hope it's not the end for him.
Was glad most people at the ground showed respect for him when he went off, if that was the last time he left the field at least he got some support from the crowd

Even though I was rapt about Sicily taking the mark, my first comment was "Hopefully its just a jarred knee".I still have hope that Murphy can get back on the ground this season - one of the most inspirational players going around that wear opposition colours IMO.

I came over to congratulate you on your win, and I see this thread, a great show of respect to our captain. We are gutted for Bob, and it makes the loss pale in significance.
