I came over to congratulate you on your win, and I see this thread, a great show of respect to our captain. We are gutted for Bob, and it makes the loss pale in significance.

Good luck for the rest of the year (not that you need it).

This will mean nothing right now after a tough loss but from a hawks perspective we have shown in the past few years that losing key players actually thickens your skin and although it is murph i honestly believe you guys have the depth to cover him and i wouldn't be worried at all.

Could actually be a blessing!

You seem to be the beholder of that, so as I remarked, fill me in on the cooling of period, one day? one week? Remember never said he deserved this shit to happen. Just commented on the Bob (man love) Bob (respect) Bob (different cat) Bob (not your average player) love he got from the umps today. Geez touchy much.
But then again today's generation do like to celebrate or grieve tragedy like no other time in history.

I got the feeling most understood this thread to be a sympathetic one, not an opportunity to pick game nits.
You just decided to be a dill anyway.

Yeah we have the players to cover him, Hamling stays in and Easton Wood comes back, even blood Collins, but you can't replace that leadership that he gives such a young team.

Bevo will throw down the gauntlet to the 2nd tier players and demand they step up. Im sure they will respond.

Not sure who the Dogs play next week but they will be belted by the Dogs.

Was awful to watch that unfold. Bob knew what he had done (he's been there before) you could tell by the look on his face.

Normally I would be jumping around the lounge room fist pumping and screaming after Sicily slotted the potential match winner but I just sat on the couch and soaked the whole moment in.

One of the weirdest feelings, when it wasn't 'one of ours'.

Like everyone else, I hope he recovers and wish him all the best.

Shows the class of the bloke in that he just got up and got out of the way of the important shot at goal. Plenty of unsportsmanlike athletes would have soaked some time up lying there to ice the player having to take the shot. Classy to the end.

It's funny, that's what I thought as well, not many others would have done this...

Good luck Bob hopefully you'll be back to lead the Doggies...

Sad news... Oh well it could be on the cards for any player ...hope he plays on...

Happened at the worst possible time too. All the best to him he's a champ.

Feel bad for Sicily as well as that injury is going to take a lot of gloss away from what should be a classic Hawthorn goal.

The goal will be remembered for a very very long time. So cool under enormous heat..

Re Murphy, whilst desperately unfair, these are the realities. Will be regarded as a bulldog great.

No it was a typical ACL, he was changing direction and the knee just went

One of the most unexpected type of ACL injuries since he wasn't coming down from a big flyer, in fact the push and shove had hardly even started. His knee wasn't at a particularly odd angle either. The pressure must have been just right (or wrong) and it went 'pop'.

I wanna see him back next year, and dare I say it hold up the cup.
(Particularly if we have a 4th by then!!!)
There is no other team nor player that I would wish this for.

I have met Bob several times and know a lot about him through a mutual mate.
The 'great bloke' tag is very real.

If every player played with his spirit and had the same attitude and outlook on life outside of footy, the gossip pages and associated controversial stories would be nil.

Do it Bob!

I know he's not one of ours but i love everything about the bloke ...
My fingers are crossed for him and i hope you all share my sentiment ....
Good luck Murph ur a champion of the game and don't deserve to go out the wrong way ....
Thank you, great to see this :rainbow:

If we don't win, I'd really like to see him do a Crawford.
