No, just the vice captain and as opposed to a knee injury has a life threatening illness. But I can back in Clarko that if Roughy ever did get back (unlikely) and we did salute (even more unlikely), we would handle it very differently. Similar to how Brendan Whitecross who went down in a Prelim and didnt have a flag just vanished into the background before and after the GF. The Dogs handling of most things since Saturday have been very poor. To perform a kind act then ask for a reward (another medal) really defeats the purpose. Bob is not a Premiership player, no matter how the Bulldogs fans, media or Kennett mouthed President tries to spin it.

When Bevo gives his medal to Bob but PG asks for another, for Bevo, that's not a defeat of purpose. Bevo's gesture was his own, it is not him that is asking for another medal. Gordon simply believed that it was deserved for Bevo to have his own.

For the record, I don't believe that another Jock McHale award should be given, but it's very harsh to criticise the Dogs' handling of the situation.

No. In next weeks episode we are going to find out he has narcissistic personality disorder and all his years of apparrently being the nice guy were just for his dose of narcissistic supply. He will eventually go full dark triad over time and burn the club to the ground Hird style.

If it was the Saints playing (whom I loathe), and Nick Reiwoldt in Bob's situation (whom I harbour a grudge against for 2009 prelim), and your coach did for Nick what Bevo did for Bob...I'd think it was a beautiful moment too (however green with envy I would be), and wouldn't begrudge them it.

(full disclosure, I think Nick is a top bloke off the field, I'm just one-eyed on the field)

I don't begrudge Bob Murphy getting a premiership medal, it was a nice gesture from Beveridge to acknowledge one of the Bulldogs veterans, however he still wouldn't truly feel a part of it as he wasn't out there on the field.

West Coast allowed Cousins to lift the 2006 premiership cup with Judd as he was still seen as their spiritual leader even though he was no longer captain.

Cousins played though so there was less criticism of him doing that than there was of Murphy doing it.

Neither do I but players that played in a premiership are often referred to as premiership players from that point on which boosts their standing in many people's eyes even though it doesn't necessarily make them a better player than non premiership players.

It's the same with coaches, being known as a premiership coach automatically raises their status and makes them more in demand from other clubs.

It felt like the moment was the true gift and that Murphy should have given the medal back privately already. Gordon's comments make it sound like that had not happened. If it doesn't that would reflect pretty poorly on Murphy IMO.
 
I really don't think Bevo would care about the medal. Do we think people are gonna forget that he coached them? I think he'd rather Bob keep it but yeah who knows.

The only poor aspect was Peter Gordon saying he would ask for a medal, but there's nothing wrong with asking, the afl can say no.

Apart from that the events have been nothing short of brilliant.

If it was Luke hodge who had gone down in 2013, I reckon Clarko would have done the exact same thing.

If you met Bob Murphy in the street and you didn't know him, you'd never believe he was a professional footballer.

He looks more like marathon runner in terms of his physique.
