How can people look at that first photo and say anything bad about it? It's ******* great :)
It's not that it is bad it just all looks wrong. Murphy looks tortured in this photo and all other images throughout the day.
I think in hindsight it would have been better for all if Bob tried to stay out of the limelight and joined in the celebrations [ if he felt up to it ] alone with his team mates.
He just had that look of a little brother desperately trying to be involved in his big brothers day.
FWIW he didn't look like he really was happy on the day. It all looked a bit too put on for mine.

LOL seriously? So basically he should have mourned.

He genuinely seemed ecstatic despite the mixed emotions.

You can see it in his interview with Sam Lane: https://www.instagram.com/samjanelane/?hl=en

The commentary on Bob from outside the walls of the kennel is very amusing. He was AA captain and in the best 10 players in the competition when he did his knee - players of that rare skill and talent do not lose their ability overnight. He was pivotal as an on-field leader in our rise as a club since Shocktober in 2014, transferred his leadership to off-field through difficult personal circumstances in 2016, and thoroughly deserves to come back as captain in 2017. The fact that we have strong leaders coming through in his wake is testament to his influence on the playing group.

Melbourne Uni psychology phd candidates have struck gold with this thread. There is enough material for half a dozen doctorates. Sad ****s.

So a question to dogs fans..just for the sake of research..have you come across any fellow WB supporters in the last 72 hours who were genuinely disappointed that the coach didn't get to hold up the cup with the premiership game day captain?

Or is it just a plain and simple case that we non dogs have know idea how much bob is revered and loved at bulldog land?

Peter Gordon is a flog. The media are vomit-worthy.

BUT

Vossy invited Lynch up when he had his CF troubles surely (I'm sure Voss invited him up after Lynch relinquished the captaincy knowing he couldn't adequately lead the club and deal with his health battles) and no one had an issue with it. Just as no one should have an issue with Beveridge or Murphy.

Beveridge/Murphy are not the bad guys here.

One things for sure now, no one will ever forget the 2016 podium cup presentation by the Bulldogs.

Not since Mick Malthouse nearly got shoved off stage by his own players has so much happened in the ultimate moment of victory.

the medal bevo gave to rob, wasnt that a coaches medal? if so, its different to players medal yes?
Yep which I think makes it even more momentous

I know I am shooting bambi here, but honestly I am over hearing and seeing him the last week or so. Yes he is unlucky to have gotten injured but the fact is he did not play on Saturday.

Nearly every main picture of the celebrations has him holding the cup.
Why don't you start a support group? - you clearly need some help.

Honestly mate you would not find one...we love the bloke he was drafted in the 90's and has spent half of his life at the club...as bevo said 'no one desrves it more than you bob'. End this ridiculous thread already.

Last line nailed it.

Need to be a Dogs fan to understand it completely.

To us, it was simply a fantastic thing to happen.

It will be interesting to see if he actually does come back into this Bulldogs team? What do the Dogs do now? They have to play him in 2017, particularly after all the hoopla of the medal presentation etc or do they? What happens if he simply isn't up to it in 2017? Maybe his injury was a blessing for the Bulldogs? Murphy is a very likeable guy, he comes across as a genuine bloke who loves his club and loves his life as a footballer, but all of a sudden things have changed rapidly and i wonder if there are those at the kennel who might get in his ear before the beginning of next season? Murphy turns 35 in June. With the recruitment of Cloke and the return of Murphy it might just unbalance the young Pups?

Got it in one with your last sentence. There is not a single Dogs supporter I know the slightest bit upset with how the premiership cup was raised and by whom.

Nope to the first question, and yes to the second one

Wow, this thread is absolutely staggering.

I have to admit, I'm not aware of a lot of the whole Bob Murphy hoopla because I've taken to avoiding the media for the most part.

What I cannot understand is why this is supposedly the biggest issue to come out of the Grand Final.

I have no problem with what the Bulldogs did and indeed, I felt the emotion of what was happening but at the end of the day, an injured captain being invited onto the stage by the coach is an absolute non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

The Bulldogs chose to recognise his importance to the club and you don't see enough of that in football these days so good on them as far as I'm concerned.

I'll get shot down in flames for it, but I would've prefered Bevo and Wood to lift the cup as captain and coach first, then after all the boys ran up on stage Bob could've taken Bevos spot. Even then I wouldn't have been fussed if Bob didn't get involved, its unfortunate he wasnt able to be part of the premiership team, but plenty before him have missed out and plenty after him will too. I love the club as much as the next person, been a member since i was 12, social club member since I was 18 (now 30), went to Hawks, GWS and the GF but IMO I thought he could've taken a back seat a little more.
