If anyone ever discounts the careers of great footballers who don't have any success on a team level throughout those careers... "Because, Bob Skilton" is the ultimate come back.
Absolute legend of the game, and by no means is it his fault that his 17 other teammates didn't have the level of skill and drive that Skilton did.

The skill off both feet.
I know younger posters don't like hearing this, but Skilton was as good, if not better than any midfielder playing the game today, with the possible exception of Ablett. Beautifully balanced, had the time to deliver perfect foot passes to team mates further afield with both feet, and in an era where small men got belted if they hung onto the ball too long. Also had a wonderful knowledge of where the goals were.
Truly great player who would be worth millions if playing today.
