Carlton
i heard a rumor from a crows suporter that bock could be traded at the end of the year. there is off field issus as well as problem with team mates and they what to trade him while he still has value.
he was aa chb last year and was one of adelaides leading goal kicker the year before.
he would be the perfect player for us as he could swap with waite or hold down chb and be the bigger bodied defender we need or go forward and another option other than fev.
look this is pure rumor and may not even be close to the truth but i thought it was interesting and worth talking about what or who would be a good trade for bock or if we want another bad boy at the club.
on paper our team looks good with him in it.

joseph jamison thornton
scotland bock bower
walker gibbs stevens
yarran waite robinson
kreuzer fev betts
warnock judd murphy
carrazzo grigg simpson houlihan

Yeah, the Crows would ask for Gibbs in return. Maybe throw in a first rounder which will probably be around the 10 mark.

It would help our balance but how old is Bock? Do we think Gibbs wants to go home anyway?

Our supporters would burn Visy Park to the ground if they did this. Can't see what else we would offer that the Crows would accept.

There is no way in hell I would trade Gibbs for Bock. And I don't want another player with issues at Carlton, we are developing a mature young list, last thing we need is another idiot.

I completely agree.

We already have one guy who tends to be a distraction to our young side and if we traded for a guy with off-field issues what sort of message would we be sending to them..........not to mention the effect on morale of losing a key player who is by all reports very popular.

Our young guys are developing realy well and we need to stick to this method as it will give us prolonged success. The only trades we should look at are ones that involve players who are moving for the right reasons and we should approach these with a degree of empathy to the club losing them...........we don't want to be like Hawthorn who are now on a black list of clubs not to trade with due to their years of ripping other teams off and blocking other trades (E.g. Ryan O'keefe)

We need players with issues at Carlton. Discuss.
Agreed, try as they might Scotland, Houlihan and O'hAilpin just can not take enough heat off Fev in this regard. God knows the rumour mill is trying to get Yarran in the mix and Stevo does his bit by smuggling the odd beer or twelve inside his belly but short of Russell attempting to make pancakes and turn them over, we come up painfully short in terms of scandal.

We need Bock to make Fev look better.

Bock, Otten and a first round pick for gibbs would be a deal I'd be willing to make. I fear Gibbs is a big risk of returning home.

Bock will be 27 by the time the 2010 season gets underway. I'm not that sure he is the type of player that we want or need, and should really be careful if and when we trade away draft selections. Also, Adelaide would want far too much for him, and there is no way we'll come to the party on that deal.

They can keep him.

Adelaide might ask for Waite and Austin or Waite and our first pick if Bock wanted to join the Blues.

No thanks.

We'd laugh if they asked for Gibbs.

Bock would slot straight into Hawthorn's line up.

The Hawks went after O'Keefe, so they might have room for Bock.

Richmond might downtrade their first pick for Bock and Adelaide's second rounder if they think they can get Bock. :D

The Tigers love drafting players with issues.

Do you sleep with the light on and close all the wardrobes doors before you go to sleep? ;)

What an absolute joke

Where on earth has all this Gibbs crap come from? Jesus, the hysteria surrounding Gibbs at the moment is similar to that of the worry of swine flu killing us all.

Relax, Gibba is a Blue Boy through and through. He'll hold a premiership Cup as captain of our club in future.

And no to Bock, as much as he's an AA CHB, not only would the crows want too much, but he's not a direct answer to our needs. We have plenty of developing tall backs. We need forwards.

If they're WANTING to get rid of him, then how the hell can they expect a like for like trade. If he has issues any like for like swap is out of the question as the new club taking him in will have to nurse him through these problems.

For mine... swap Russel and that's it... they get an Adelaide boy back who is a first round pick.. I'm sure Craig can reprogram him to be a crowbot.

And give up our best defensive foward pocket?

There's a bloke already replacing Waite at CHB called Paul Bower who's only going to get better. You've got Austin, Thornton and Jamison down there. As soon as the mid-fielders work out how important it is to play two-way football our backline will be considered one of the best in the league.

We're one tall forward short, if we're trading for players we'll be looking at that end first.

Bock does not have off field issues. That incident was reportedly a completely isolated one (and one that was blown up out of all proportion as it were). He is about as well behaved as any other player in the league.

He is a model team member at the Crows. Chances of Adelaide trading him are zero.

Gee Bock would be nice down back dont get me wrong :thumbsu:

Who we give up and who would the Crows be happy with is the real question here!! Gibbs forget it and the only deal i would be comfortable with would be Russell and a 2nd rd draft pick.

i.e. ain't gonna happen.

I reckon we trade Bock for Fisher, Russell (he's homesick, you can tell) and a second round pick. But do we really need Bock the Shmock on our team? Apparently he likes bashing chicks.

While we're at it, why not trade Adam Bentick, Simon Wiggins, our 2nd AND 3rd round draft picks over to the Saints for Reiwoldt? Hell, I'll even throw in a packet of Smiths chip and (half) a roll of toilet paper!
The Saints will throw Koschitzke in for good measure if we offer them Bannister.

Anyone who would trade Carlton's future captain for AND so severely undemine our 'no ********s policy' beggars belief.:o

However, IF Gibbs requested a trade then it'd have to be a case of Bock + Dangerfield/Knights/Otten and maybe a decent pick/upgrade.

I doubt we'd be able to afford him, you can't continue to lure players every year and service a bunch of talented young blokes who will eventually get big offers from other teams. If Adelaide want to get rid of him they'd be better off trying to sell him to GC
