Me :D haha, look it's nothing against Rob, but when you drop an exciting youngster who hasn't done much wrong for a 28 (roughly) year old tagger with little to no offensive game, it sends a very negative message to the playing group for the game and the year.

Gun comment

We have to look towards the future with our selections, no more thinking about today and just hoping everything will be okay tomorrow.

We wont ever have another tagger if we continually persist with Shirley who has no upside, thankfully this year the club is finally learning not to overcook players in the SANFL before getting them into the AFL system.

So we put 4 Shirleys in the team, shut down 4 of their 20 offensive threats and then clanger our way up the field when we get the footy?

Actually that was a bit too harsh, but taggers are complimentary players, not what you need in your whole team.

is it a clanger for Shirley or his team mate if he passes the ball to a team mate who has a player on his clacker and that player then conceeds the ball either through a turnover, holding the ball or a ball up ???

Shirley will be playing till hes 49 if we dont find a run with player in our current group. Id be happy to try Petrenko, VB, Macca, Douglas, Vince or just about anyone this week before Id drop someone from the team that played last week.

Really hope Shirley doesn't come in. No offense to him, but it would be a negative selection. He can't stop Gaz, we should attack him and make the most of what WE can.

[\QUOTE]

Your an idiot, he is our best tagger, and teared Ablett a new one last time we played Geelong, before you post get a clue!!!

My memory may be failing me (which is likely), but didn't Shirley predominantly tag Bartel (41 possessions) last time we played Geelong?

Pretty sure Massie was on Ablett, as he spent most of his around half forward as he was carrying that ankle injury?

Lets have a bit more love for Shirley eh?
He should've played against the Saints in hindsight.

why ?

our priority this year is getting experience with our youngsters. A standard rob shirley game will add nothing to our future development. From what I can see is giving guys like Douglas Maric Tippet etc game time over the past year or two has paid massive dividends with their development as players.

I would rather fast track development of a new tagger than spend another year playing shirley every week knowing at the end of the year we won't be in any better position

Wow, I really didn't expect it after one week but I guess it goes with what they've been saying this week!

Watch as all the bleeding hearts come out and dump shit on him now

Sooner the AFL brings in thier own code of conduct the better.

I see you are from way down south. Have you just tuned in from Antarctica?
You may want to catch up with the news a bit before you get on BF and make a complete twit of yourself.
HE DID NOT BASH A WOMAN.

For someone who appears to be a respected, intelligent poster on this site, thats just a really disappointing comment.

Peter, either tell everybody what you know, or cut it out.

None of us (except you) have knowledge of the relationship between Bocky and his partner, and none of us (except you) know what apparently happened the other evening.

Our comments are based on the limited information thats available, with full knowledge they may be wrong to you, but we don't have that.

Starting to have some credibility issues now I think.

Damn media and their indoctrination on the public. People are so quick to judge without even knowing the facts for themselves. Obviously it was no where near as bad as some think if he is back this week. He obviously has had a fantastic attitude with regards to this issue and has done everything possible to get himself in a healthy situation. I really do hope this doesn't ruin his reputation of being a top bloke but sadly it probably has.

I hope he just concentrates on his form and continues to play well because even though he doesn't play for my team, he really hasn't deserved this tag that has put upon him when no one really know what happened.

The sooner we develop VB as our tagger (to be used against teams that have a player that actually needs to be tagged), the better.

When a team doesn't have any midfielders worthy of a tag, use him as a normal midfielder, but against teams such as Geelong and Carlton, use VB as a tagger.

I think he has the ability to do this, and it would eliminate the need for bringing in someone like Shirley for a match every few weeks while also freeing up a spot for an attacking player such as Cook or Jacky.

This post sums up the whole sorry business perfectly

Peter, you keep alluding to you knowing something almost sinister that we don't know.

One of 2 things. Either post what you believe you know that we don't or stop posting such critical comments of others , who obviously don't have access to what you believe you do.

You can't have it both ways as you're trying to - saying nothing but criticising posters who don't fall in line with your unstated knowledge.

Time to put up or shut up.

For those complaining that Shirley shouldn't be getting a game, or that the kids should get a game ahead of him..... please note: No "kid" was sacrificed in the naming of Robert Shirley. Maybe, just maybe, one of our "young blokes" will attempt to tag a different player to Robert - seeing as Geelong have a plethora of talent in the midfield. Craig has done nothing to jeopardise his youth policy and has done everything to enhance his chances on Saturday. I still would have liked to see Griffin in to co-ruck with Maric and leave Tippy up forward full time... but knowing how Geelong's mids can run amuck, I can see the advantages in his selection.

And has since acknowledged it 2-4 more times in interviews.

I didn't mean over the years ir anything long term.

Yeah, you did. you took some recent spin, and tried to present as accepted wisdom.

there is something funny going on with Shirley's status, 7th in B&F last year, 2 year deal - and then suddenly he needs to be more flexible? bollocks.

I don't know what it is, obviously, but something doesn't sound quite right.

no matter how many games Bock's suspension lasted for it would of been open to debate.

However listening to Triggy today I believe the club has been very transparent with the decision criteria and the reasoning for the decison to lift Bocky's ban.

After listening to today's press conference I am satisfied with the why the club has handled this situation to ensure that all Parties needs have been considered.

Starting?

Peter wants to pretend he has all this good oil, but of course can't share it. now that might be because it's inappropriate for a public forum - at which point, it has no purpose other than self aggrandisement; or it could be because he's making it up for self aggrandising purposes. either way, all credibility was lost when he started the "I know a secret" routine.

VB has been used as a tagger at various times over the last 3 seasons.

IMO VB should not be used as a tagger, VB has shown that he has the capability to be a very dangerous and offensive midfielder so why would we want to sacrafice this attacking weopon

I would like to Brad Symes developed as our next defensive midfielder
