I havn't got the time to look through all the posts on this one and it might have been bought up before but doen't the coach have the final say or at the least the type of player that must be recruited. All the coaches are sitting at the table (if my memory serves me correctly) during the process so they should be getting the kicks or accolades as well.

Bit hard just blaming the recruiting managers. Just my two jacks worth.

Your spot on. But on the flipside, we can't just blame Ayres either.

The way I see it Fantasia would rate all players according to his opinion and those of his staff. Fantasia would then make recommendations on draft day. The coach would have the final say but it would be based on intelligence from Fantasia. So even if there is a 'coach's selection' on draft day you can be sure that Fantasia had rated him highly.

We need to buy the best forward line coach in the business as even though we don't have the worlds' best talent, we have been under-performing. Look at what other clubs have done with average talent. Some strategies & structure wouldn't go astray!

IMHO, the addition of specialist coaches doesn't always work and can complicate what is essentially a simple game. Many people on this board have already provided the answers for the best short term fix, then it's just a matter of having someone drill the side well enough to complete the set plays. There are no great revelations in general play to be had, there are no revolutionary techniques, it's a simple matter of find the right players and then drill, drill, drill.

An equally big problem ATM is the midfield delivery to the forward line. Players aren't sure if they should pass off or have a ping on the run. This results in half-arsed kicks that float in the air and are repelled by the opposition easily. I think the whole answer lies in the quality of leads from the forward line, the congestion in the forward line which hinders these leads and the decision making of the midfield or wingmen in terms of "to have a shot or not to have a shot". I think Craigy should set some clear instructions until the decision making improves. If you don't follow the instruction-then you're off.

As I said, the answers are already here, the players are available, it's just a matter of an easily executable plan for the forwards. No specialists required to do this. Remove the mixed messages and simplify the options for the delivery and you'll find that the midfield will deliver.
