Not sure if I want McGough (given his lack of pace),

if people dont know already but McGough suffered from OP end of last year into preseason. Slowly getting back to pace with extra training. Well so Shane Wakelin has said.

He is still slow without OP! Pace isn't exactly his best asset, which explains why most of his better games have been in the wet.

true very true, i've only seen his wet games. Lose a bit of muscle might help, like i've said before much like kingsley did for us. Guess every player has good and bad points.

Matty Bode will become a very important player for Adelaide next year when Stenglein goes. Bode will be able to slip straight into that vacant midfield role, minus the tagging go with role.
Bode is a fierce tackling in and under player and a midfielder who can kick those important couple of goals a game which we we have been missing the last couple of years with Goodwin and no regular firing forward.
I know people have said he wastes the ball alot and it has been empathised this year but i think Bodey was used as an example for the rest of the team. The last few games he played before he got injured were very good, he just needs some regular time on the field.

Why all the love for "speed" and "pace"?

How much pace did Chris McDermott, Mark Bickley, Andrew Jarman and Greg Williams have? McGough is strong, in and under and he's a leather magnet - he's also extremely young and has plenty of time to improve in all departments.

As _espoir said, if he sheds a few kilos of muscle and gets over his OP he might gain a few yards just like Adam Kingsley (and Mark Ricciuto) did.

On the surface, I reckon the trade suggested is a fair one & I would probably do it. Just saying that rather than a slow McGough, I would prefer either another player or draft pick for Bode. McGough isn't in the category of champions you mentioned above, but agree he has the ability to find the ball.

And what the hell do you think you know?

well more than you to start with, this is because im not the one in love with one of our blokes that isnt upto AFL standard, luckily im not in love with any of our guys at all.... otherwise that could be a bit of a worry! honestly just try to be objective and if you were you would realise that as good as hayden is at SANFL level he just doesnt have what it takes to play AFL, i hate bagging any of our players but this needs to be done we have a few guys that arent upto AFL level and this includes Hayden.
