Bold Calls - 2018 Edition

The end of Goldsack as best 22. Despite his great 2017, Moore becomes preferred in that athletic spoiling position because of his superior height, leap, pace...

Due to his superior size and point kick ins... Dunn to remain full back.

Moore to play 2nd KPD or that Goldsack spoiler role depending on opposition forward line size. Having Moore down back allows him to interchange with Reid for spells up front.

Then Howe & Shaz/Langdon as intercept marks and playmakers... and Crisp and tagger/rebounder to make up remainder of defence.

With a lack of senior footy prospects and a then 31 year old banged up body, Goldsack to retire at years end.
While Goldsack is the only medium tall defender applying proper defensive pressure he is of great value. He hits another gear on the chase which is often a contrast to Langdon and especially Shaz who allow themselves to decelerate when chasing an opponent. Goldy stays while he is the only one chasing

Collingwood supporters will be thanking their deity of choice that we were able to keep Mason Cox. I am very hopeful that he'll be able to deliver the goods this year.
I am on the Cox bandwagon also. Think he will be the AFL forward with the biggest contested mark numbers in 2018

That's bold

Sidebottom to go AA.
Howe to go AA.

Pendles to actually play the whole year and have one last big shake at Brownlow medal night.

See I don't know.... Dunn and Moore and Goldsack down back won't always suit depending on opposition.

Goldsack chases and 3rd man up spoils, but that's it. Moore chases, spoils... and marks and out bodies better than Goldsack.

Howe, Langdon and Shaz intercept mark.... and are better at setting up play of the boot than Goldsack. Maybe the pies play Howe, and then Goldsack over one of Langdon or Shaz.

Bucks tends to pick his old guard in Rd 1 , so I'm sure Goldack plays early... but we'll see how the year pans out.

Boldness* for 2018.

Matthew Scharenberg to become AA top 40 deserving of AA but dumb selectors bypass a Magpie again.

*(Boldness was a horse raced circa late 70s and came 4th in the 1978 Melbourne Cup)
Not sure it’s bold enough, odds are fairly short on Shaz becoming AA quality but falling short of AA because of his colours he wears

Pies to finish eighth on percentage.
Prompting a three year coach extension.
Blair to play 22 games, recording an average of one kick, 2 handballs, 2 tackles and 45 clangers per game.
Offered a two year extension.
Geelong to win the Premiership.
Selwood (x2), Dangerfield, Ablett. 3 game changers (+a Selwood), how does any team cope with that?
