The injury excuse annoys me.

Every club has injury issues, and sure it affects the ability to perform, but not to the extent we have witnessed in the last two seasons.

I've watched us win 12 out of our previous 44 games. It's not acceptable and the manner of some of those losses has been truly awful.

Do you really think another year with multiple 100 point floggings will be tolerated?
Remembering the premiers got belted twice this year, we will tolerate a couple (and we will get them). 4+ and some heat will come on.

It is not an excuse it is a reason. In 2016 (especially) and 2017 we had a lot of our B22 injured for long periods.

Every club does have injuries and when you have large portions of your B22 out and only kids to replace them as we do, they are not going to consistently perform against good sides. No amount of being disappointed with winning 12/44 changes that. You just have to be patient because our list demographic is not one that will allow 22/22 competitive games. If we kept our best 15 players fit then maybe. Even then I would expect a couple of off days. We had them even in our top 4 years (Saints).

I get that it is easy to just say it is all Ross' fault, and certainly it partly is but a lot of it is completely out of his hands. See super coach Clarko getting belted this season multiple times.

That’s a bit harsh. If we have another poor start, and given our fixture, it’s not a huge stretch. You can almost be sure that the media will be kicking up a fuss about Ross’ tenure. We won’t fire him, but for this particular thread, I don’t see an issue with somebody putting it out there.
We could easily be 3 and 10 like in 2016. Only difference is, we wont be 0-10 after 10 rounds, more likely to be 3-7 or 2-8 at the worst

I predict a first or second year player will be elevated to the leadership group in 2018.

Geelong will finish on top of the ladder and go out in straight sets.

St. Kilda will finally get a good player to want to go to them.

Nathan Fyfe will have a run of four or five games where he monsters the opposition and gets maximum Brownlow votes for those games.

That's just a list of excuses and an apparent swipe at our list management.

Rubbish, I know what I said. You might get lucky and get someone like Fyfe with pick #20, but the best players are more likely to come from the first handful of picks. Our first draft picks were (apologies for errors if I missed the original draft number because it was swapped in trades)

2010 #20
2011 #16
2012 #17
2013 #17
2014 #13
2015 #16

6 years of poor picks, hell, I'll add in 2009 and make that 7 years as we effectively lost that pick #4 - Morabito who the footy gods cruelly took from us, so effectively our 2009 pick was #20 (and an astute/lucky that he was still available by then, pick by the list managers). The numbers above are actually worse when the best youngsters weren't even available due to the special minidrafts given exclusively to the expansion teams.

You can only put on the field the players that you have. If you have a list filled with guns and can't do much with it - e.g. Gold Coast, then that is a coaching fault, but if your list has deteriorated because you have been successful - that is a good thing, the coach has coached well. I'm not going to swap all of those years of making the finals, going to the MCG for a shot at the GF, to eliminate a few beltings in 2017 - and if you would, then frankly, you are a muppet.

Ironically, being successful which in turn ran down our list, is giving us the talent to have another crack at the finals in the coming years.

<Postscript> Realised subsequently that this is just derailing the OP. Will stop.

Fyfe will win the Brownlow next year.

We'll finish about 8th and get pretty badly rolled in the final.

The new stadium will be awesome and there will still be complaints about it.

I'm not sure any of those are actually all that bold.

LDU to pip Witherden for the rising star and some of the biggest melts to happen here, calls for bias+regret at not taking him

That we will actually grasp the concept of scoring and have 22 games where we score over 10 goals a game (one can only dream).

Sadly after the second half of 2017, I'm aiming low because expecting too much just leads to disappointment.

The main board is probably the place for unoriginal griping and club bashing; this one’s for supporters.
