Rubbish decision. Dougs been exceptional for the past 12 months, he hasnt lost fitness by not bowling for the last 6 weeks, he's been bowling for 12 months stright ffs. How many overs has Sids bowled in the last 12 months? His returns at state level havent been anything to write home about either.

If Doug stayed on the field in India we would have won that test match, no doubt about it. Feel for the bloke, he's been shafted.

If only the selectors had enough balls to drop our middle order instead of our best front line bowler for the last 12 months.

I honestly don't get the fixation on Siddle, he isn't McGrath, he isn't Dizzy, he's not Lee - he hasn't played enough Test Cricket to be an instant recall to the side, and the Test Cricket he has played, he hasn't been dominant enough to be a walk-up start.

Why does this bloke get pitch-forked straight back into the side?!

They are picking him because he is fit! Who else is there? George got smashed around by England, they dont like McKay, not much in the way of fit fast bowlers lying around who they feel can get through a whole test match and then back it up 3 days later

I agree...Poms would much rather face a quickish rightarmer who does squat with the ball, than a sharp left armer who swings it ...surely Bollinger would be the first bowler picked . Especially at the gabba !

Was terrible against SA here, especially the first 2 tests, until the series was over, will admit he and Johnson got it together for 2 Tests in SA, gave us false hope when they were both absolute crap in the Ashes where the Poms fed off free "4-balls".

Remember SA chased down 414 for 4 wickets in Perth, then the last 3 wickets put on 270 in the first innings at the MCG when we were well on top? Hate to say it, that's the bowlers.

He was then unable to back up the next week as his knee swelled up again, what if it plays up after the 1st innings and now you have Johnson as your new ball bowler and Watson 1st change for the 2nd innings, England would be laughing, not sure Australians would be happy though picking unfit players

Then he was unable to play the next game, so their was no way he should have been considered.

i don't hate siddle i just think he's needs to go back to Victoria and grow a goddamn brain and that he deserves criticism. To be perfectly frank I dislike the supporters more than him (ie North Melbourne and their fans)

Now obviously he's talented but he was atrocious last summer and when I saw him at the SCG I thought McKay was far better. Nothing suggests to me he's sorted out his problems from last season (too short) and while I accept Dougeh and Harris are not at full fitness, I firmly believe Ponting would have picked Siddle regardless of fitness.



(On a sidenote, now with Hauritz and Dougeh gone we're gonna have hell getting your tail out. They were about the only two who seemed to be able to do it.)
