Football circles were left stunned today when a female teenage Essendon supporter identified Jonathon Robran.
Melinda Williams, 15 of Oak Park, identified the former Hawthorn bigman as he ran towards the football during a training session at Windy Hill. "Good pick-up John" she called out as Robran cleverly gathered an errant pass from teammate Dean Soloman during a skills session.
Onlookers were clearly amazed at the youngster's footballing knowledge. "That's incredible!" remarked Sheryl Paton of Ascot Vale. "I've never heard one of our supporters be able to recognise any Bomber except for James, Matty, Longy and that nice lad with the red hair. What is his name Lorraine? The tall chap in 31?"
Ms Williams further amazed on-lookers by correctly stating that Judd Lalich wears 17, recognising that Scott Lucas is a left footer, and telling the Johnson boys apart.
Unfortunately, Ms Williams was ejected soon after from the ground for failing to squeal when Matthew Lloyd appeared from the clubrooms. She was not too disappointed however.
"Matty's pretty average looking I reckon" she said as she left the Napier Street ground. "Anyway, how does being good looking help you get a kick?"
