If bad first 8 rounds, gone by the 11th. If no finals or only eights, gone. Onle prelim can save him IMO
I agree the only thing that will save his job is a prelim otherwise goneski. so i rekon geelong will be looking for a new coach pretty soon

Most other clubs in the competition and their supporters these days are knee jerking hand clasping ball tampering goal post rearranging overtime magic lamp shiners who buff to be sure it all gets out into the first tissue...

Geelong dont operate like that...we are a professional organisation with set goals and plans in place...'Mark' my words Bomber will coach the 22 games out...if finals beckon then take it from there but as the right hand most honourable Fishbowl keeps telling us all...lets not get ahead of ourselves...

There is no need to have an opinion on this....its just how it will be...he wont be sacked mid season....it just wont happen baby.

From rounds 3-10 last year we won 1 game...so your question is valid on that basis.

We lost games in that time we usually wouldnt lose. I just dont see that happening again. If it does I'll get back to you...;)
just a hypothetical situation is all.... A club SHOULDNT stay TOO loyal IMO - Especially if you are losing with a team you should win with.

bomber thompson has done extremley well.I dont think any other coach has done what he has done.He came into coach a very poor side with no top players and yet didnt get any early draft picks along the way.Give bomber cousins and judd and we will see how he goes and how john worsfold go's.

he same bloke who was responsible for geelong doing the best according to most experts in last years draft
Geelongs first four picks ...

Joel Selwood
Nathan Djerrkura
Tom Hawkins
Simon Hogan

Hawthorns first four picks ...

Mitchell Thorpe
Brent Renouf
Josh Kennedy
Jarryd Morton

Thorpe=Selwood
Renouf>>>DAYLIGHT>>>Djerrkura
Hawkins>>>DAYLIGHT>>>Kennedy
Morton>Hogan

This is purely speculation but don't see how Geelong did better than the Hawks in this draft.

Wait till they play atleast half a season before trying to say who is better than who.

Bomber is a c*** of a person, and I have lost faith in him as a coach after last season. He obviopusly as his favourite players.

Unlike some idiotic poster said, we will not be a bottom four team (anyteam with arguably the best fullback, 2 of the best small forwards in the comp in GAJ and Chap and a decent all round team will not make bottom 4) and will hopefully finish 5th-8th. He will keep his job, and we will do the same thing next year too.

Geelong look certain to finish bottom four this year. He will be gawn.
Perhaps Bomber can go and coach Essendon next year.
So the season hasn't started, but already we're certainties to finish bottom 4? Interesting. Insightful too.

That aside, Thompson should have been booted last year. I don't care if he was under contract or not, when you do your job badly you should be sacked. End of story.

How can you tell how good they are when none of them have played a game yet? Here's how Inside Football's draft experts saw how both teams fared:

Carlton: B Carlton's acquisition of Ackland made it's decision at pick one simple. Gibbs will be a super player, a formidable partner for Marc Murphy. The Blues found a developing ruckman at pick 17 in Hampson and at 19 snapped up left footed ball magnet Grigg, who looks a bargain selection. Their lack of pace in the back half will be bolstered by the inclusion of the dashing Benjamin while Gibbs' Glenelg teammate Austin was a surprise choice. The hardworking Anderson caps a good draft.

Geelong: A+ Easily the big winner of the draft. With Hawkins in the bag under the father-son rule, the Cats couldn't believe their luck when Selwood and Djerrkura fell their way. Both youngsters ooze leadership and class and will be pushing for selection in Round 1, 2007. Local lad Hogan, the final pick, fills the need for a speedster in midfield.

The highlighted part says it all really.
