It amazes me !
Why would we fall to 8th-12th next year ?

Look at the facts -

1. We coudlnt possibly have a worse year with injury in 2003
2. Lloyd couldnt possibly have as bad a year in 2003 at full forward
3. Salmon will be a better player in 2003 with 2002 under his belt
4. We lost caracella, blumfield and heffernan, but what did they do in 2002 anyway - nothing.

Well Essendon have gained nothing and lost a fair bit, so it's obvious that ppl think they will drop, and expecially condsidering that many other teams have gained good players, Essendon would finish between 6 and 10

All arguable:

1. You can definitely have worse injuries. Look at Carlton/St Kilda from 2002. And if you think injuries won't wreck two consecutive seasons look at West Coast '00-'01.

2. Unlikely Lloyd would have two bad years in a row, but its just as possible that 00-01 were his stellar seasons, and his '02 form on the park is what you are going to get (it wasn't that bad when he actually played).

3. Salmon is 38? now. I would very much doubt there is any improvement to be made now.

4. What's to say that Cupido, McPhee or any new draftees will be better? They still have to cover what your departures did, and that's more than nothing. Nothing is what Carey did in '02.

I think Essendon can't make 1-2, are still an outside chance for the 4, much more likely 6-9 range. Shouldn't fall below that, there is still too much class there.

Take into consideration that they are ageing.
