Essendon Football Club will embark on its high altitude training camp powered by Antler to Boulder, Colorado on Saturday morning.
A select group of players and officials will head to Boulder to under take the high intensity 15-day training camp.
Led by captain Jobe Watson the players will work closely with assistant coaches and high performance staff at the grueling camp in altered conditions.
The group will participate in a hike up the Green Mountain and through the Rockies as well as running and skills training.
Captain Jobe Watson said the player group was excited to be heading back to Boulder.
“The club has invested in the playing group again which I think is really important and we are excited to get back there,” Watson said.
“With the lack of oxygen in the air your body acclimatizes to being able to train at a higher altitude.”
“It was only a group of ten last year but we formed a really close bond and we were able to push each other through that and it is great we are taking a larger group this year.”
High Performance Manager Justin Crow said the camp was an important part of the club’s pre-season training campaign.
“The group that went last year saw really good results so we are excited to be taking a bigger group away on this occasion,” Crow said.
“By going to altitude our players get more air in their lungs for the same amount of running effort so we get more endurance style training to build a base for the rest of the year.”
“The other thing we get by being over there is the players get to really concentrate on their training in that elite training setting.”

Nothing more to add really, although that fluro blue singlet is freaking awesome

So, the only senior players not attending are Stanton, Fletcher and Winderlich.

Investing time into Jetta it would seem. Dell and Steinberg on the Rookie list and interestingly they are taken. Thought it would be more beneficial for guys like JD, Kav and Jackson Merrett. Look forward to the daily updates though.

Lol can't afford? We are Essendon, the 2 million is chook feed. Yes I rather it was spent on something else but 2 million won't change the operation of the club from day to day.

Exactly. How about paying back some of the fans who contributed to new facility, especially for going through this shit year. Seriously farked if i'm paying indirectly for wealthy young men to have U.S jaunt.

Unless you're constantly training at high altitude it's useless.
