When Thompson said (not exactly, off the top of my head) there were blokes who were questionable whether they want to/should/ will play afl, who does everyone think he is referring to???
i no this is a roughie, but i reckon king, so half hearted, but everyone elses opinions??

I felt Bombers press conference was great because he was truly honest with what happened. Not sure who he would be referring to perhaps King unfortunately alot of players in our side dont seem to play with the same passion and intensity as Chapman, Milburn, Ablett, Mooney, Bartel. The midfield needs a revamp i dont think Enright, Corey, Ling can all play at the same time in that area.

He said that King needed more time to find touch
Lets see? I think his position may well rest on this thought

If the players do not play with the intensity and passion there must be a reason? Maybe there was not enough change?

Geelong has to show heart from the top down if not do us a favour and Pi#ss off? If it means a clean out I am all for it. Even Chapman said this is a problem and he IS the man with the most heart

I actually liked these comments from Bomber, BUT, does this mean he will play shit players if they give effort. Or worse if he percieve's them to be giving effort. Players that give 100% for 100% of the game every week.

- Chapman
- Ablett, G
- Bartel
- Wojinski
- Mooney
- Rooke (when playing)
- Mackie (in this new role, he is a much more commited player)
- Varcoe
- Selwood
- Harley (when playing AND not injured for a half)
- Milburn

Not sure the point of this, other than perhaps the rest of the team need to watch videos of these guys. Also sad to note there are two rookies in there showing other guys how to attack the game.

Corey Enright, Steven King, Cameron Ling, Darren Milburn

I have to totally disagree with you mate. All you have done is pick out the guys who you think are in the best form at present. There is absolutely no way the list above give 100% every week of their career, that is garbage.

Maybe effort was the wrong word. What I was trying to do was list players that are a positive on field influence on the team; including effort, positive actions/words, etc. Ablett and Milburn may occasionaly crack at someone, but it is FAR outweighed by how much effort they put in through the game. Chappy just yells at people to get off the field so he can get on and do some damage. I remember the Hawks game a the end of last year. The ferocity at which he was pacing up and down the interchange waiting for someone to run off was almost scary.

I'm sorry but no player gives 100% every week, and I don't think this is what Thompson / Chapman were indicating. It's about commitment. Commitment to the club, your supporters, your team mates and your coach. It's about giving your all when it is called for.... or at least something close to it. The team is obviously not a tight group, including senior players who look stale and young players who are ill directed. The club needs change, they know it and have exhausted every other option apart from the coach.

Thompson is history. He is tired, out of ideas and frustrated at a bunch of players who no longer react to anything else but media pressure. It's a repeating system. After round 1 we got flamed in the media, which had great effect. No doubt the players will be switched on this week for similar reasons. Take a walk Thompson... Maybe your wife will take you back??

It all about mental apptitude. We don't have any, the current bunch of players have only enough mental strenght, mental toughness for 8-10 weeks in the year. Good teams succeed all year round. WE DON'T HAVE THE PLAYERS TO POSSESS THAT ....

I know I have been quite critcal of Thompson in the past weeks discussing how he should be sacked or replaced etc. On the weekend, he showed Geelong supporters the most passion he has showed since his defence of Ottens a few years back.

He hit the nail on the head and if Geelong are selecting a team who aren't committed every week, when then those players can f*ck off to other clubs.

I hope Bomber drills them this week and generates some passion in some of those players. Losing to Richmond this week will be the final straw!

Who selects these uncommitted players one might ask?

I have to ask... What players could Bomber have selected that would have changed the result on Sunday?
I'm afraid you've taken that out of context, I was referring to selection on to the list, keeping on the list and playing them in the seniors if one believes that they are not committed.

Bomber's interview was a joke. He came on camera and admitted - no, openly spoke about - that he and the players had colluded on deciding what to tell the media. What is this, a giant CYA session? While Bomber obviously wasn't going to talk about half the problem (I was outcoached) he should simply have gone out there and said "The players were bloody horrible," and named names ala Eade. Instead a player who isn't even in the senior leadership group had to say it. Frustrates the hell out of me - Bomber hurts for this club, but he just can't quite do the things that need to be done.

We don't want Bomber to drill the players this week, because he will continually pick them. Send them to the two's, who care's about ego's, who is stronger, the PLAYER or THE CLUB???

Well if your criticising the club for picking "uncomitted players", you would need to drop at least 2 thirds of the team for next week. Players don't just decided from week to week if they are commited or not, it is a culture issue. The club picks the most talented list every week, which you must do...

You DON'T NEED TO PICK THE MOST TALENTED PLAYERS EVERY WEEK!!!! YOU PICK THE INFORM, THE HUNGARY AND THE ONE'S THAT "WANT" TO PLAY FOOTBALL FOR THE CLUB "EVERY WEEK"
