Carb
We had more top players out than the blues did last week & they just beat us, we belted the swans with a very inexpierenced side.

I don't know about that Sandie, Bradley, Kouta, Silvani and Allen are much bigger losses to Carlton than Pretty Boy and Smoking Joe are to Essendon.

Also Sandie we all knew Essendon had depth anyway. You achieve that when you cheated with the salary cap a few years back.

Carlton beat you f'and'sq last week with 1/2 a team when we get our boys back we will do better. Swana aren't nuttin we are the biggest threat so stop looking around please look at the blues, we wil;l win the flag yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

I don't want to upset ther blues supporters here but the reason they won last week is because they replaced 4 older more skillful, slower players, with 4 younger players all of which can run and that caught the bombers off guard and flat footed, possibly more by luck than good coaching but a win is a win.

Carb, don't know why I can be bothered, but we were missing

Pretty Boy (your term - not mine)
Misiti (dual premiership player and in top 3 in B&F last three years.
Heffernan (gun centreline player)
Blumfield (gun centreline/ half forward)
Rioli (outstanding young player)
and
Jacobs (reasonable up and comer).

We had in:

Damien Peverill (1st gamer off rookie list)
Rob Forster-Knight (1st gamer)
Dan McAllister (2 games I think - none last year)
M. Bolton (no games last year - could even be first gamer)

So, whilst Carlton had quite a few out and did manage a great win coming from well behind to kick 6 in the last, we did have a very inexperienced side in.

Regards
Dutchy

second team beats swans. from where i was sitting it had much more to do with fletcher putting in his best game for the season and hird playing like james hird. whilst pavelli looks to be a class player. it was the big names like mercuri, long and carrecella that contrubuted the most.
goodes kicking 1 goal 9 behinds also helped.

Just thought I would bring this topic up to the top again for the likes of vanders & dunsdill 19 etc who couldn't wait to bag us last week & who are surprisingly quiet today. oh & after the Dees win, I will remind you again.

You cant be serious in including Rioli & Jacobs as major players missing. Both aren't regular players.

Keep yer mouth shut yer WA freak.

I watched this game from start to boring finish, and I came to the absolute conclusion that the Sawns lost it rather than Essendon winning it. It was more about Swans errors than Essendon skills......OOPS,...I just realised I was wearing my Dan25 glasses whilst watching the game. I forgot to take them off after last week's game against Carlton. Sorry.

Lets not get too excited. They beat sydney but who have sydney beaten ? 3 teams with a total of 1 wins between them.

Two days ago, Sydney were the top of the ladder favorites playing brilliant footy who were going to thrash an ordinary Bomber outfit..........what happened???? Now they are easybeats who shouldn't have been on the top of the ladder in the first place?

If you want to mention Rioli and Jacobs as major outs, the Blues will claim Christou and Franchina on top of the big four.

Sydney should have won that game last night, they had the form, Essendon were depleted. If Sydney had have played their best they would have won. Definitely Sydney lost it more than Essendon won it. Well done to the Bombers, they played well but the Swans shouldn't have allowed it. You might say that the Bombers fluked it. I'm also sure that the Bomber fans were celebrating the Swans loss more than their own win. That's kind of pathetic if you ask me! I can't believe the Swans lost. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I'm one of the dills who got hoodwinked by Sydney's form. I think they might have got a shock too, discovering the gulf in form and talent between Essendon and the likes of North/Adelaide/Weagles. I hope we do win tomorrow - then we'd be the only undefeated team

LOVE all the usual suspects wiht their "Sydney lost it rather than Essendon won it". HA HA HA HA. Yeah ODN we fluked it by 9 goals and fluked 11 unanswered majors...

Meanwhile over at Optus Carlton got the pensioners back from injury

Choppy and ODN, Rioli has been an automatic selection since 1999 - he just has had a terrible run with injury. As opposed to Christou who hasn't played a decent game of footy since around 1995...

(slight exaggeration but... and not a regular)

Jacobs, while not automatic selection material is very close - probably managing 7 or 8 last year (Dan - stats?) - that is why I only listed him as an up and comer if you bothered to read my post.

Don't know about Bolton's status game wise - but if he's played senior footy you could definitely count em on one hand.

Dutchy,
Bolton made his debut back in 1998. Played 3 or 4 games in that season. Had one game in '99, and one game last year.

where's wally?

ODN's,

Obviously you are being a bit sarcastic with the use of the "winks", but I think the Ess-Syd match is a completely different match to Ess-Carl last week.

Different match, different set of variables. For starters, although Essendon was severley depleted, you could make a reasonable argument that they had more talent out there than Sydney. You could NOT say the same thing about Carlton last week as Essendon clearly had more talent on the field.

Agreed?
