Has anyone else noticed that the Bont will often lick his fingers during a game? Often before a centre bounce or at a stoppage before the ball is thrown up he can be seen to lick his fingers. It's like when someone is reading a book they will lick the finger to moisten it which helps to turn the page.

My question is: does anyone have a theory to explain this behaviour? Do the moist fingers grip the ball better? Is there some other reason?

I know this might sound weird but I'm being 100% serious. If you don't believe me, watch for yourself during the game this weekend or on a replay. He can be seen licking his fingers throughout the match.

He just tastes so good.

I also notice him lick his hand, rub his hands together then run them through his hair.

Especially when you don't know where he has been putting those fingers.

Reminds me of Shane Heal talking about playing the US Dream Team in the Olympics and making body contact with Michael Jordan wherever possible.

He was so in awe of MJ that mixing his sweat seemed like a privilege.

Similarly, too much Bont is never enough, even if you're the Bont.

Always best to lube up before domination BigFloppa.

It kind of reminds me of Brian ‘Choco’ Royal shaking his mullet post goal throughout the 80’s and early 90’s. It was almost like a male peacock showing one’s beautiful spread of feathers to draw the ladies in. ‘Choco’ - great plumber in the Eastern suburbs. Looks him up but make sure the missus is at work.

He does actually do it. I believe it's for grip (but has probably become habitual/ritual as much as any real benefit).

Back in the day playing basketball you’d have to lick or spit on your hands then wipe the saliva onto your shoes to help with grip on the floorboards.

I haven't taken notice of the Bont doing it but sheesh does Cripps do it incessantly. He reminds me of my staffy I had that had allergy's and wouldn't stop licking his foot, it drove me nuts.
Its said, allegedly, that Cripps no longer has fingerprints!

OK. When I first read this I thought "staffy" meant a member of the staff, like in my teaching days. However, when licking his foot is mentioned, well... :)

He's a Big KFC Man? Seriously get this man in an ad for KFC Australia doing what he loves.

"I’m hearing Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli still hasn’t arrived at the ground. If he ends up being a late withdrawal, it’d be a massive blow to the Dogs’ finals hopes."

Cut To:

Bont sitting in KFC carpark chowing down a 12 piece. Until...The MCG siren commands his attention... He looks at his watch, without hesitation, he peels out onto the highway, foot down, eyes locked on the clock. Racing to make the first bounce.

Through the gates, into the rooms, he's throwing on the Bulldogs kit, still fumbling with sweet and sour sauce as the roar of the crowd grows louder.

Cut To:

Bontempelli in the middle. The ball about to be bounced. Then - He sees his greasy chicken covered Fingers and licks them.

It writes itself, Folks.
