Personally did cause I found the Folau stuff and his explanation pretty poor and have no time for homophobia.

For anyone who thinks it's crazy to boo him just because he 'liked' something on social media is completely wrong.

Players are given so much media and social media training, they know how they can be perceived in the public eye with what the decide to do on social media.

Ablett chose to 'like' an incredibly hateful message by another sports media personality. It may seem small but by liking it, he is absolutely endorsing the message that was put out by Folau.

I hate booing players but when they are clearly homophobic I am all for it. Ablett can GTFO.

To be specific, Ablett liked an instragram post by Israel Folau that said:
"WARNING Drunks Homosexuals Adulterers Liars Fornicators Thieves Atheists Idolaters, HELL AWAITS YOU. REPENT!"

(it was a meme image, not something Folau wrote up himself, as Folau probably doesn't know
what most of those words mean).

I have no idea why others were booing him, but I'm intolerant of intolerant Christians (and a big fan of Fornicators)

Why is Ablett even mentioned in the Hawthorn forum. It's bad enough that I was half-blinded today when the sun bounced off that bald gits head directly into my eyes. I don't want to have to then read about him too.

God channels his wrath through Gary's bald head due to the personal relationship Gary has with God. You've probably been drinking, fornicating or worshipping false idols. Maybe all 3 at once. Ridiculous to boo Ablett....should be reserved for Selwood only

This is pretty much my feeling on it too.

I’m not trying to tell anyone that can’t boo anyone, just that if I was gonna pick a Cats player to boo, Selwood would be 1, 2 and 3 on my list.

Ablett has been a champion player and to my eye hasn’t cheated and flopped anywhere near as much as his brave captain.

But, if you wanna boo him for political reasons then be my guest.

I hadn’t noticed the booing of Ablett previously (apart from in response to specific instances in games), so today really piqued my interest.

God, its all to do with liking Folaus tweet according to footy classified and not with being a self righteous knob. I wouldnt bother but Selwood deserves it more for being a ducking cheat and porkins for being a tool that just wants to hurt people for no reason.

I suspect the level and regularity of booing players may increase at times when people don’t like someone for off field reasons.

The booing or not booing way or assessing it is a little simplistic ...

That doesn’t mean all boo for the off field/political reasons - just that their boos are added to the chorus.

It then kind of snowballs into a general dislike where all can amalgamate their reasons for booing and embolden each other

This is why I had a problem with booing Goodes in the end - it was clearly off the charts compared to previous booing and by booing for your non racist reasons you were ultimately being complicit with those booing for other reasons - and being reckless to the possibility that he was being racially targeted.

In this instance, if Gaz is booed for not being homophobic but it gets out of hand and ultimately gets worse, exaggerated and uniform to boo him due to the PC crowd being anti-homophobic ...

Then I’m happy.

I would say 90% of people boo'ing yesterday don't even have a reason for it... Kind of like when people get involved in a "wave" they just join in for the fun of it.
