Yeah asking is best, because you are more likely to ask your mates who are more likely to have similar-ish tastes.

Exactly what I came to suggest, excellent book.

Is it though? I read the first 50-100 pages and had to stop because it was so poorly written. I'm sure the plot of the story is pretty enthralling but Young just couldn't bring it to life for mine.

I just read The Narrow Road to the Deep North, Flanagan's Man Booker effort, and would definitely recommend.

Terribly written book, but worth its weight in gold, not for you, but if you have a partner, give it to her, you will never see more action in the bedroom than when she is reading this.

If you are into a bit of fantasy then check out Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. It's a 10 book series (I'm up to 5) and it is awesome.

Jodi Picoult is an awesome writer. I've read 'Nineteen Minutes' and 'The Pact' which are brilliant reads. Definitely recommend them.

Both banned by Martin County in Florida, as are 18 other Picoult books.
Probably threw their copies into the swamp.
