Can't wait to bump this rubbish,by the way some of us see Vary playing more a forward role,so your comparison to Fraser may be moot and he won't be playing full back,so as a forward what 200 game spud do you see him emulating.

He has had CHF written all over him from day one. Scotty is also acutely aware he is now a week to week proposition with the hip, which makes the decision to ruck him one born of necessity rather than common sense.

Dawson Simpson will be head and shoulders above the competition, literally, as the best ruckman in the competition. #1 in hitouts, #1 in hitouts to advantage. In 2014.
Make it 2015 and I wholeheartedly agree.

My prediction Cam Guthrie will captain the club after Joel Selwood. Caddy has a lot of arrogance which our previous captains did not, and Guthrie seems like a very intelligent confident young man, and by all accounts a great student.
GHS doesn't have the runs on the board at the moment to make really stand up among the playing group as a leader.

At some stage in his future career, Jackson Sheringham will be compared to Boomer Harvey.

Only if he wears #29, and I doubt Guthrie will give that up.
No, I really don't see any valid comparison, not even height.
You did say future, I know- how far?

I have to say, how do you know that? Selwood speaks very, very highly of him and they know a lot more about what is required in a leader down there than we do.

There was no necessity. They could have played another ruckman there. They chose to do it, if any issues occur as a result they are 100% self-inflicted.

Joel speaks highly of Josh Cowan too.

I would say the last thing a player like GHS needs is to be burdened by captaincy. He may be a "leader", but first he has to establish himself in the firsts.

Caddy, on the other hand, has leadership material written all over him from my observations.

I can't agree just yet. Caddy has been lauded from the moment he arrived at Geelong, mainly due to the magical combination of "Gold Coast" and "high draft pick". The fact is his half against Hawthorn in the Prelim was by far his best football of the season. Overall he was ok but nothing more. While it was great that he was willing to put himself in, you have to actually think before you use the ball. Good thing is he did show that in the final so hopefully he can start doing that. I don't see any particular future leader there though (and I don't with Horlin-Smith either). The truth is we simply don't know.

Game day runs, not leadership runs. Obviously my Guthrie as captain prediction is based on a purely outside the club view, so I could be totally wrong.

Which other ruckman... Retired, injured, under-sized, or over-worked?
I'll meet you half way - They chose to do it born of necessity :p
