Hovering around in the Nike Tiempo Legend IV's this year. Really light and nice fitting boot. Was going to get the Adidas 11Pro SL's in all black but too expensive and hard to find in my size. Very happy with the Nike's though.

Anyone got a pair of adidas Predators? Are they any good? Thinking about getting them.

Getting back into footy after a long, long break. Way out of the loop on boots. Recommendations?

Also cheap places in Melb

Cheers

Footy boots still go on your feet, have laces, and some studs sit on the bottom. You're still in the loop.

But the new Nike Premiers are pretty much their Copa Mundial counterpart – that is, black and white and low key and leather and really cool.

Are footy and soccer boots the same? Went into an Adidas store yesterday and they didn't have a clue

Fairly sure they are the same. People use different stud types for different games/surfaces/conditions.

Has anyone had a kick in a pair of Copa Mundials and what do you recommend? Reckon the studs might be a bit to short and more suited to soccer but they look great and I do love Adidas. Any suggestions?

The tongue on footy boots supposedly separates them. The ones with the tongue that goes back over the laces are for sports that kick a ball.

Rugby players dont need these boots...oh, except for 1 per team....

i can never make up my mind on which colour boots i want, so i think i'm just going to get plain black

Do what I do, get the most garish you can find, then when someone gives you shit about them, just say "Messi wears these boots." Which kicks off a whole lot more fun banter. Last two seasons I've had purple and orange, and pink, baby blue, and white and there's rarely been a dull moment as soon as someone with an attitude catches sight of them.

hmmm...well that adidas samba range does look tempting and i do like a bit of banter

Went with Adidas F10/11Pro's after wearing the Asics Lethal Ultimate the year previously, having not played footy in years.

Took a fair amount of time adjusting to the 11Pro's, but adding a thicker insole did the trick and the boot was lightweight enough whilst allowing for reasonable agility.

Lethal Ultimate was fantastic for someone just starting up football again; it's a little heavier than some of the other boots but that extra width and support is great. Traditionally I prefer a snug fit and those loosened up too much in the second half of the year, as well as offering a little too much support, but was fairly happy with the product.

This year I'll be either going Lethal Tigreor's or Puma King's. My only beef with the King's was that they were a little too soft on first wear, but after the time I had this year adjusting to 11Pro's, don't really want to fall into the harder=better trap.

Sims sports for $180 but they were the last pair, they said they are rare to find

Funnily enough I was going to get these from Sims but was told they were sold out.

Thinking of going with some Adidas boots for next year, are they good for those with wide feet? I tried on a pair but just not the same when you aren't running full tilt in them.

The thing is with the 11pro SL is that the soleplate runs narrow through the midfoot making for a tight feel when you tie the lases tight, that is that the boot pulls on the arch of your foot. Another thing I've noticed is that the cut of the heel is extremely low which does give the baack of the heel a lack of stability. I do have wide feet and these are some of the things I noticed.
The new 11pro which is in the samba colours have some changes:the soleplate does not run as narrow through the midfoot and the back of the boot has a much higher cut which will offer more stability and protection to the back of your foot.

Check out soccer reviews for you on youtube as this guy does excellent reviews on every new release boot. I think he's based in Canada, so done only asics once but he gave them a massive wrap.
