great effort for a great kid I thought would take time
tries to time his punch to spoil
with those long arms may be better served just to extend the arm to its length instead and not need to time the momentum
needs a couple of summers but has the skill and attitude we expect of all the WA lads

looked good today but I fear he will break in two if he gets hit by someone big....painfully skinny!

so did lappin but didnt stop him putting his head over the ball at ALL times..Boots looks like he has a heart which is something some of our more senior players should have a good look at.

whats the old saying . its not the size of the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog --probably poor form and prob got it wrong

cmon blues

BEEFCAKE!

Green laces will be Boots' undoing.

Sorry to intrude here, just wanting to know how you all think Bootsma is progressing? and how highly some you rate him? im just interested because i used to play my junior footy with him at Safety Bay Stingers back in WA, he used to tear games apart, damaging player from an early age, he used to play more midfield when i was playing along side him. When we started hearing about the potential 2011 draft early last year i was surprised i didn't see his name pop up, always thought he would get to an AFL list, but then as i was watching the live draft saw his name pop up, was really happy for him, you have a great player with you guys. All the best to him, look forward to him tearing it up at AFL. once again sorry to intrude.

Above all else, I hope that he doesn't lose his aggression. I loved that he took no s**t from anyone.

Built like a little girl, but punching above his weight in hardness, doesn't shirk the issue. It's funny how a second gamer can show other players a thing or two.

Looks the goods. Once he picked up on the tempo he really belonged out there. Nice skills, good kick, good reach, and love the attitude.

HOWEVER he is so scrawny he has to be managed carefully.

I think we lucked out with pick 22 in a thin draft. Progressing nicely. If we can get some more meat on him and Frodo, I'll feel a little more comfortable seeing them mixing it with big blokes.

Good long hoof on him...got that Christou like arc. Some of his short, mid-range efforts fall short but exactly 14 kick into his career I won't judge too conclusively.

That thumping fist away in the third quarter (I think?) is a great sign...shows his ability to read it in flight, and time the spoil perfectly. If stuff liek that was easy you would see a lot more of it.

Everything about his game yesterday says 'I wouldn't mind another couple of weeks please Ratts...err I mean coach...umm Mr Ratten Sir'.

Think you'd struggle to find a Carlton supporter who isn't wrapped with his progress so far. :thumbsu:

you have to like the way he goes about it. has an appetite for the contest despite doubling his weight when fully clothed.

thumping kick but can be bit a scrappy of what we have seen so far but something that can be worked on.

How many Brownlow votes has he got so far? NONE? Delist.

X2 half his body mass is his hair... totally agree with his skills being abit scrappy, but it is only his 2nd game.. in saying that he is 74kg hardly skinny

Yes he was pick 22 and no he hasn't got any Brownlow votes, BUT he hasn't been in the system for 5 years, in fact he's only played 2 games (1 and a qtr to be exact) and yet he shows he has a hunger for the contest and a willingness to win the ball despite being 20kgs.

Has a brilliant kick on him too, that pass to Betts was very impressive. I wouldn't expect him to bulk up over the years, he's probably in the Fletcher mold body wise and I like his aggression. You can tell this guy loves playing for the club.

Best part was when Tapscott slung him into the ground over the boundary... only for Bootsma, approximately 1/3 of Tapscott's size, to charge angrily at him, grab him by the jumper and try and rough him up in retaliation.

Love the kid... has that combative mindset that we seem to lack.

Was good to see that from Boots but I was disapointed that none of our big seniour player ran over to fly the flag when that happend.

Someone should have come across and put Tapscott on his ass to send a message that we are not going to let our younger guys be treated like that.

The only player in the vicinity was AJ though so I dont think he would be intimidating anyone.

Still wouldnt of minded seeing Jamo or someone like that put Tapscott on his ass, even if it gave away the free kick.
