The White Stripes.

I agree with this 100%. Terribly overrated and very, very boring.

Singer - Alex Lloyd. Gotta be the most emotionless, boring person on the earth. Sometimes smiling can be nice! Try it some time!

Band - Something for Kate. Without doubt the most coma-inducing group ive ever had the displeasure of hearing live. No stage presence, no emotion, no nothing. Boring, boring, boring. They may have some good songs (i dont think so but others do) but live they are about as interesting as staring at a wall.

Also agree 100% One of the most overrated groups going around. Borrowed two of their cds from a mate to see what the fuss was about and ended up falling asleep halfway thru the first one. Talk about bland and uninteresting.

U2 (post-1988)

Can't agree with that. While U2 may have dished out some crap albums in the 90's (Zooropa, Pop), they did try different things, and their concerts in the 90's (Zoo TV Tour, Popmart) were some of the best audio/visual productions in a stadium format you could ask for. Achtung Baby and All you can't leave behind were outstanding albums.

Overall, their pre-1988 stuff was more predictable and similar than post that date.

Live bore me to tears. Very formuliac and while alot of people rate that bald prick lead singer's voice, i find it grating, especially when he hits those shrill high notes. Handy for stripping paint of the wall if you need to though.

I cannot stand Something For Kate in any format (have seen them at 2 BDO's) but i will admit that their drummer is awesome to watch. That dude has issues with his drums! He bealts the bejesus out of them. Pitty about the rest of his band. That Paul Dempsey has yet to convince me he isn't a "weekend at Burney's" style front man who is actually dead, but who they just pull out of a road case and wheel out at gigs. And that chick bassplayer looks like she is panicking all the time. And wear some shoes ya little troll!

And that Pete Murray dude must have compromising pictures of his record company's executive or something. There has to be more interesting music out there more worthy of signing than this surely?!?

Radiohead are verging very dangerously on falling into this category also. Time to actually write some tunes again now fellas.

Ed's high notes are just nasty. And the pity is that he's been singing more and more of them on the last few albums. Doesn't help that the band hasn't been tuning its instruments down half a step like it did on their earlier stuff, either.

Agree with the White Stripes, and also I find Jet WAY over-rated, I mean their songs are OK, and just OK at that, and here everyone is going crazy with them. Sorry I just dont see it, just the media looking for another Australian artist to hold onto.

I dont minf Powderfinger, but not in high doses, listening to their album, I just couldnt get overly excited by it.

Has anyone heard the new Limp Bizkit 'song'?

I hate to say this, but Jet. Be My Girl is alright the first couple of times, Last Chance is too short to be considered a song. Rollover DJ is their best song. But listening to the rest of the album, it's almost impossible to tell when one song ends and the next starts.

And don't get me started on Something For Kate:rolleyes:

British media went ape over them first. They lucked out - right product at the right time.

The Vines mark 2 perhaps?

Not necessarily in musical terms (although both bands completely sh*t me), but they both share the same scenario of leaving our shores as complete nobodies and seducing the British music press and returning as rather puzzling flavours of the month.

Jet might as well have released a Rolling Stones and Beatles tribute album. I dont mind bands having influences. Not everyone can re-invent the wheel. But bloody hell these imposters haven't even tried.

Your 15 minutes is almost up. (Hopefully)

I'm assuming you mean their cover of The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" off the Who's Next. I reckon it's actually a pretty decent crack at a great old song.

Why exactly do you "hate to say this", Ryan ?

I don't quite follow that logic. Do you feel obliged to otherwise like them, or what ...

Anyway, a couple of other acts who have delved into the murky world of boring music over the years.

The Go Betweens - undisputed heavyweight titleholders for quite a number of years.

Dave Graney - numerous Combos, from the Moodists, through teh White Buffaloes, Coral Snakes etc..

The Killjoys - snorefest

The Triffids - despite recording some fantastic stuff over the years, they also have some horrendously boring material in their back catalogue.

Placebo - naaah .. probably more irritating than boring

As far as being a Limp Bizkit song goes, the word 'F*ck" is under-used, "C*nt" doesn't appear at all, and it makes no reference to inserting things into womens genitalia. As far as music goes, it's about as boring as every Something For Kate song rolled into one, with a bit of the Dandy Warhols thrown in.

What I meant was that they have some good songs, but they are the exception. If they didn't have things like 'Radio Song' and 'Timothy' on the album, it would've been more interesting.

I can't argue with that;)

Boring bands....

definitely my two least favourite bands come into this category, being Creed and Coldplay..

Kings of boredom. The leader singer has the most boring montone voice I have ever heard. All their music sounds the same too.

You've got no right to take your place in the human race.

hehehe .... yeah maybe they should consider covering an old Derek & Clive track next time ....

Heh, seems Something for Kate is a popular choice.

I too saw the thread title and they came to mind.

In the mould of 'alterna-w@nk', the post 30's, or pre-30's who reptend to be mature.

JJJ spurts this crapola all the time.

Pollyanna, Amonia.

All monotonous, not guitar players but guys carrying 6-string belt buckles.

Ben Lee is in the mould as well.

Bad poetry some self appointed, tax funded music critic waxes lyrical about, set to 4 chords.
