boring bands

Matchbox 20-what a terrible band with a goat on vocals.

Lame boring inbetween the train tracks, not looking over the horizon money driven drivel.

the 2000s -some absolute rubbish in the top 40 -90 percent of it anyway.
Bring back the late 60s early 70s or even the early 90s ffs.

Leonardo's Bride.

Saw them supporting the Badloves (slightly less boring) at Mercury. They all came out for a 'ROCK' show and sat down on armchairs to do their set. No such luck for the bored punters. I would have liked a couch.

Also nearly fell asleep at the Dire Straits concert in about 1992.

OK had a think about it.

Pete Murray
Something for Kate.
Do these two have the same songwriter, all sounds the same, and boring as batsh**

silverchair/daniel johns.
By himself, with paul mac, or silverchair, it all sounds the same, and most of it is crap.

Whats really annoying is that alot of the boring bands get a huge amount of radio airplay. I'd die a happy man if i didnt hear nickleback at work again! Agree with Something for Kate, Matchbox20 and Alex Loyyd. Id add Kings of Leon, Limp Bizkits "behind blue eyes"(overplayed again) All those commercial Punk bands where all their songs sound the same!

(Have to say Coldplay are brilliant when im in the mood for them)

And whoever it was that said Muse

a lot of the bands people have mentioned i'd have to agree with, however i STRONGLY DISAGREE with whoever mentioned and seconded MUSE. They are in a class of there own, there are not many bands that u could be compared to them

Not necessarily in musical terms (although both bands completely sh*t me), but they both share the same scenario of leaving our shores as complete nobodies and seducing the British music press and returning as rather puzzling flavours of the month.

Jet had a fairly large fanbase around the melbourne rock scene before they left... there was a bit of a buzz around them... nothing like it is now, but they hadn't really released anything yet...

nirvana, soundgarden, alice in chains.

If I meant it, these would not be the most inappropriate in this thread.

I must be the only person who does not thing Something for Kate are boring. I can see what you people mean but SFK have a small and unique group of fans who see a different side to thier music.

Nope, me too. I love 'em. Favourite song is Pinstripe, closely followed by Say Something. Basically, you either like the guys voice or you don't. The main reason people say they're boring is because Paul has a monotonous sounding voice. The lyrics, though, are well written and thought-provoking.

Wow, I found one person! My favourite songs have to be Happy Endings, Letter to the Editor and Best Weapon. I guess if you are not a fan, you would have to think they are boring.

They aren't the sort you put on when you want to get happy or get a good vibe on. Brilliant lyrics and they are certainly not conventional, melodic, sing-a-long stuff but good for listening to while musing about life in general. But that's just me.

You just reminded me of them anyway. Haven't listened for a while, may just go do it now. :)

Used to be a huge fan, now I don't listen to them much, but still enjoy a few songs. Strategy's probably my fave.

I think Paul Dempsey's lyrics are some of the best going around, of course his songs are going to sound similar to each other, what bands songs don't?
Very good live band as well.

Maybe I'm getting old, but there is a lot of garbage called music out at the moment. Too much re-heated crap that is just too commercial to retain any soul that these artists (sic) may have had. However, my faith has been restored by a CD I purchased last week.

The Darkness, "Permission to land". What an album, what a band, may the youth of today discover what good music is about. Great riffs, power chords, over the top vocals. This is the album Jet should be trying to emulate.

Agreed.

I know they've been previously mentioned by others, but I'd like to add my two cents about Powderfinger. Is there a band in Australia that has progressed less over the last decade? The stuff they are releasing now is absolutely interchangable with their EP's from like 1994. Talk about finding your sound and sticking to it. Their unjustified popularity in this country is disturbing to say the least, they are the new Cold Chisel. (That's definitely a bad thing, in case that's not patently clear.)
And a couple of overseas shockers that no-one's mentioned yet are The Offspring and the Chili Peppers. The Offspring's formula seems to be to listen to a song they released a few years ago, change a chord here and there, give it some new (woeful) lyrics, and bang, they've got themselves another radio hit. And the Chili's? It's interesting how crap a once almost-decent band has become. Everything they've released in the last decade is a pile of poo. If you could go back in time and meet them in say the Mother's Milk / Blood Sugar era and play them some of the radio-friendly tripe they're releasing now I think they'd probably shoot themselves. Michael Eavis was on the money recently when asked whether he'd consider booking them for the Glastonbury festival this year and he said "Potentially, but they're really more for 14 year old girls these days."

MB20
White Stripes
Something For Kate
Ben Lee

And I admit I have a passion of hatred for:
Madonna
Spice Girls
Kylie
Pink
Christina Skanky Ho A
Britney spears

Untalents slags who are manufactured by the pop industry to suck out money out of the 12-20 yo age group.

Time to bring back the real musicians whose talents are being wasted.

To me, Muse sound like they stole all the half decent songs off the last Radiohead album. But I haven't heard much of their work, so maybe they have a style all of their own.

To throw a new name into the hat - Ryan Adams. A friend of mine forced me to listen to one of his albums and it took four hours for me to wake up.

OK. Name me one Muse song off Absloution that sounds anything remotely like Radioheads Hail to the Thief.

Name me one song off Hail to the Thief that could even make it on Muse's Absolution.

They are nothing alike.
Not even close.

Muse are anything but boring. If you don't like them then fine but that doesn't mean they are boring.

Probably the most interesting band I've heard in the the last ten years.

U must be kidding. Mother's Milk and everything before hand is mediocre. By the Way and Californication are brilliant albums.

Just because the radio plays them doesn't make it bad. I know for some reason its only cool to like bands the radio don't play (or apparently the Darkness and Muse) but just because the radio flogs the Chili Peppers doesn't mean there songs are all of a sudden crap. Popular does not equal bad. Besides, Under the Bridge and Breaking the Girl are as radio friendly as anything they do these days

Their last two albums **** on Mother's Milk from a great height. Even One Hot Minute does

If they could have listened to Californication at the time they were making Mothers Milk they would have been so excited they would have spoofed themselves

Agree completely.

I hate the notion that radio play = kiddie music. The Chili Peppers recent stuff is better than their older albums in my opinion. Something which is fairly uncommon, I reckon.
