Will be the same 4 teams season end.

Melbourne 1 0 1 0 66.3 0 Essendon 1 0 1 0 61.7 0 Fremantle 1 0 1 0 59.9 0 Richmond 1 0 1 0 44.7 0
might get mixed up a bit but after round 1 its a pretty good idea of where these teams will all finish

I certainly wouldn't bet against it.

Melbourne's issues are well known, Fremantle needs another year to clear the rubbish out of their bottom end so that their few genuinely good players have the right support, Essendon has a terrible list that needs several long years to fix, and Richmond didn't do themselves any favours Thursday night.

Richmond, going by their list, are not bottom 4, but the way they've played in both nab cup (i know its not the same as the real season) and round 1, they certainly played like a bottom 4 club... i'm not even sure if wallace can do anything about turnovers...

West Coast will be in the bottom four before Essendon. Not too many teams will come away from AAMI Stadium against Port with four points this year. We have Freo next week which will lift us off the bottom four.

i would love to have a bet u guys finsh bottom 4, champ im not trolling but you guys have no team balance or no fowards, but i think ur defence isnt too bad but ur midfield and fowards are garbage

Lloyd? Lucas?

As for midfield, McVeigh, Watson, Stanton, Lonergan with Hille rucking is a decent midfield. Chuck in Welsh, Reimers and Prismall with the young ones rotating through and it's a very reasonable midfield.

From today's game, (and I know they had a few key players out) Essendon don't look like they have improved at all over last season, and I honestly think they are a big chance to lose to Freo, and were that to happen, there would be no question the Bombers are mired in the bottom 4 ..

true but essendon have a number of guys that could win a close match for them. both lloyd and lucas (more lucas i would say but lloyd is more consistent), davey nearly single handedly got the bombers in the game in the 3rd today. they have a few guys like that who are inconsistent but can make you worry.

Last year you made the statement that we wouldn't win one single game  and your statements regarding us are merely your hatred speaking.

Essendon don't look like they have improved at all over last season

Last year Port beat us in Melbourne by 64 points, today 41 points in Adelaide and last year their season was over, this year many rate them as top 8 material.

Essendon will not finish bottom 6, let alone bottom 4.

You guys are kidding yourself. There is a big difference between positivity and downright over the top.

If you were to finish anywhere above 10th it would be seen as a huge effort. But i think 11-15th would be more realistic.

Last year you won only 8 games, of which 2 of those were against top 8 sides (Collingwood & Kangaroos).

Ave Losing Margin of around 8 goals and all your KPP (except Ryder) are ageing there is no improvement left in them. This would suggest more pain before rising again.

On the basis of today's game, I wouldn't pencil in Port Adelaide to make the final 8 either, they made a lot of basic fundamental skill errors and defensively they still concede too many cheap goals from needless turnovers.

Essendon's foot skills many times today was as terrible as last year and they will be put to the sword against many other teams this year with superior midfields ...

And who is going to kick their goals if Lloyd and Lucas struggle for most of the year as they did today ?

This would suggest you have no idea about Essendon's list. We have replacements for Lucas/Lloyd/Fletcher. In fact I think at the moment Lucas and Lloyd are more hindrances than help.

Hurley (star), Pears, Daniher (gun), Gumbleton (hammy) and Neagle (gun) are more than capable. This is discluding Ryder. If you had have watched our match against Port you would've seen Hurley tear it up.

We will beat Freo convincingly next week

Sorry i left Hurley out. I did watch them today and he was sensational albeit against Warren "should be retired" Tredrea and Justin "Seriously Overrated" Westhoff but he did what he had to, very promising. But surely you are not pinning your hopes on a kid to hold together your backline.

The way it sits now your FB, CHF & FF have a combined age of approx 95, this would suggest they will not improve and infact decline. As we know not many KPP (except Richo) actually improve from about 28 or 29.

We know Gumbleton will not play many, if any, games this year. And if he does you would just be happy to see him out there and not expect him to have an influence. He has obvious talent but that wont help them finish higher than bottom 4, i hope he is around for us all to see him realise his potential.

As for Neagle he averages less than 6 touches a game in his career. Enough said on him.

Pears and Danniher have obvious potential but will have minimal impact on the outcome of games this year.

So by your own addmission LLoyd and Lucas will be a hinderance and with their natural decline you would think their output, in terms of goals, would decrease this year.

Then that leaves your backline which conceded the most points of any side in 2008. The only real changes to this is Hurley and Pears who both were good today but are a way off competing with the better players in the comp.

I just think they have declining to do before Essendon start to climb the ladder. Only my opinion

I am willing to bet that Essendon won't be there by years end.
