Bottom 4...

lol at anyone thinking Essendon will have a good year

no one can realistically say that Essendon could finish top 10.

i think 11-14 is where we are at. at best we will be 3-7 after 10 rounds.

we have 5 interstate games and play Hawthorn twice. Luckily we play Geelong just once, but unluckily play Melbourne only once.

Will be the same 4 teams season end.

Melbourne Essendon Fremantle Richmond

might get mixed up a bit but after round 1 its a pretty good idea of where these teams will all finish

Not so sure it's a "pretty good idea" of where teams will finish. The numbers below indicate at least 2 changes can be expected.

Number of teams in bottom 4 after rnd 1 not in bottom 4 after rnd 22.

2008 - 2
2007 - 3
2006 - 4
2005 - 2
2004 - 4
2003 - 3
2002 - 3
2001 - 2
2000 - 3
1999 - 4
1998 - 2

I agree about the dons, a bunch of soft outsiders..

Lucas and Lloyd look about cooked, old and slow, imagine what a decent backline will do to them..

Fletcher has aged clearly and his loose unaccountable game style has zero impact against free running sides.

Backline is held up by a kid who looks the goods and reminds me of Nath Browns in his first year, but he will fade away by round 10-12, needs a few more pre seasons.. The midfield is laughable at best..

My tip for bottom 4

Essendon
Melbourne
Freo
Richmond or West Coast

This would suggest you have no idea about Essendon's list. We have replacements for Lucas/Lloyd/Fletcher. In fact I think at the moment Lucas and Lloyd are more hindrances than help.

Hurley (star), Pears, Daniher (gun), Gumbleton (hammy) and Neagle (gun) are more than capable. This is discluding Ryder. If you had have watched our match against Port you would've seen Hurley tear it up.

We will beat Freo convincingly next week

Without those two you would be favorites the spoon

interesting, i thought there would be a lot less than that

Lloyd? Lucas?

As for midfield, McVeigh, Watson, Stanton, Lonergan with Hille rucking is a decent midfield. Chuck in Welsh, Reimers and Prismall with the young ones rotating through and it's a very reasonable midfield.
lol, how long do you plan on relying on them for???

lloyd was towelled up by carlile today. creamed.

and lucas was comprehensively done over by chaplin.

Both Essendon and Port looked pretty ordinary..essendon are terrible, they rely on their 2 oldest players to kick goals ..when that doesn't happen they struggle big time. bottom 4 is a huge possibility for them...Dees, Freo and west coast are lock ins for bottom 4.

Hurley looked good IN THE ONE AFL GAMES HE HAS PLAYED

Pears, Daniher have potential but are still developing

Gumbleton hyped up but might not play again this year

Neagle shown a bit.

None of these guys are guns or stars, buddy.

So bloody deluded.

Essendon to finish 13-9

That post is pretty good evidence of why you will be bottom 4, not why not.

Lloyd and Lucas can't get a kick between themselves these days, if they are your only hopes to kick a winning score I'd be worried.

McVeigh is injured (again).
Watson gets 30 touches and the end result is 30 turnovers, seriously this blokes footskills are pathetic.
Lonergan just fills the numbers
Welsh is injured and not due back anytime soon
Prismall is injured and hasn't even played a game for the club, nor will he anytime soon
And Reimers is ugly.

Gonna be a long year.

Neagle, Pears and Daniher are so far from guns it's not funny. I like Essendons young players but seriously, guns? They haven't even proven they can play at the top level.

McVeigh misses the odd game or two. His injuries rarely impact on his season (touch wood).
Watson has stepped up in terms of footskills. i was very impressed yesterday that he went boot over handball more times than not and hit targets. Starting to play a lot more like his old man.
Bit harsh on fletcher from another collingwood supporter earlier as well. For a man of his age, his performance yesterday was solid. could be worse, he could be Presti!

Bottom 4 is a possibility, and a good one i think. The team is a long way off getting the Knights game plan in place. We need more time into the players who will be the core of the team. Neagle, Gumbleton, Danniher, Myers & Hurley offer decent KPP options. As does Laycock. A reinvention of Laycock as a HF may spark his career. And Ryder can pretty much play anywhere. His game is beginning to look a lot like that of Goodes'.
Our midfield just needs to work on the delivery and accountability. Port rebounded far too easily yesterday. Imagine what Geelong, Carlton, Collingwood and, worst of all, the hawks will do to us

To be perfectly honest, i rate us equals with Melbourne, and only Fremantle as worse performers in the league, but freo could be anything. Very tough team to rate. So it could be Essendon & Melbourne occupying bottom 2.

BTW I wouldn't count on Essendon 'beating' Freo next week, esp considering Freo's propesnity for 'eccentric' inconsistency, would anyone honestly be shocked if the Dockers got up this week ?

Knights gameplan and match day coaching 'tactics' leave a lot to be desired as well.
I don't know why they keep playing players that keep coughing up the pill on a regular basis like Dyson or Winderlich either ??

Given the traffic between the two clubs, Essendon = Freo!

The only difference is that Essendon are a lock for bottom 4 whereas Freo might just claw their way out.

Essendon fans so deluded. A buffon labels Hureley a star after 1 game. Gumbleton will supposedly have a huge impact this year, despite being unlikely to even get on the park.

Essendon. Same story different players. Bottom 4.

By mid-season I'd expect Essendon to be in the bottom two or three, however by season's end I'd expect them to jump out of the bottom 4.

I think people underestimate the affect not having McVeigh and Welsh in our team has. If Essendon ever gets fit and injury free they'll surprise some people.

Essendon to finish 13-9

If someone didn't read your post properly they could take that to mean you would think they will finish with 13 wins and 9 losses.

For the record Ess weren't terrible in parts yesterday. Lloyd in particular was a hinderance though and was once again showed to be a one position player. I thought Neagle looked much more likely to kick goals. I know most Essendon supporters would laugh this off but you would want Lloyd to find some form otherwise it might be better going with a set up of Lucas at CHF and Neagle at FF.

i would love to have a bet u guys finsh bottom 4, champ im not trolling but you guys have no team balance or no fowards, but i think ur defence isnt too bad but ur midfield and fowards are garbage

You're entitled to your opinion and on the surface it would seem quite fair.

Our midfield won't be garbage when you add McVeigh, Welsh and Prismall into the mix and add some run and carry off the half backline with Reimers and Myers and the forwards may get better supply.

Those two wont be back until halfway through the season, I wouldnt rely on them having a major input.

Pies to be bottom 4 based on Saturday's shit effort.

Why? When the going gets tough, they go to pieces! Seriously, they should have been able to coast home on Saturday, but, lacked the ticker to pull it off.

West Coast won't be bottom 4 either with the players they have to come back, backing up those who performed so well in Brisbane. Even Melbourne looked pretty good yesterday.

Bank roll Fremantle and Richmond at this stage though..and probably Sydney too.
