I don't know if I'm being harsh, but do Boulton and Bucky get an armchair ride that may not be altogether deserving? They both seem teflon coated, and from the outside it appears they do a good job of running the club, but a few things have annoyed me in the recent past ...

1. No comment on the draw over the last few years - which has a ripple effect cos Choco feels compelled to raise it at every opportunity which may distract him from other things.

2. No comment on the handing over of all Port's groundwork in the NT to the Bulldogs.

3. No comment on the Nick Stevens episode or any way of addressing such episodes in the future (even Sheedy had something to say about it, which made the silence from Port Adelaide even more deafening)

4. No comment on the coach and team performance in finals. Even Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd rounded on the much loved and respected Sir Boby Robson and his expensively assembled Newcastle squad this week for lack of performance in the face of huge support, huge match payments and superb facilities. (Of course B&B did give Choco a 3 year contract after one good minor round ...)

Maybe offering opinions on these issues wouldn't make much difference, but at least they would appear more in touch with supporters and not becoming increasingly distant figures in a vast ivory tower. C'mon guys, don't be afraid to rock the boat sometimes!

I agree, although my view is more that Greg Boulton should be the one speaking up, not Bucky, who is actually in a role where he needs AFL co-operation, whereas Greg is just supposed to answer to the members.

Bring back Bruce Weber!

I agree, except for the Bulldogs and the N.T. We were not willing to give up home games (rightly so) to play in Darwin, so someone had to move a home game or two up there. And the only way anyone was going to do that was if they get money out of it, ie Hawthorn and St Kilda from the Tassie government and Kangaroo's from the ACT's.
No so called interstate side would move a home game, so the only way we could play in Darwin would be because of the Bulldogs so the club should be thanking them, not accusing them of nicking our idea.

Yeah, what we should be doing is hassling the AFL into scheduling us there every year instead of giving Freo a taste, and also into getting Wizard Cup games there instead of sending us to places like Cairns. I mean, what the? Considering we already play the Gabba every year, thats just rude.

I think Bucky has been great for the club, no questions asked there however from the outside Greg Boulton appears to do nothing more than speak at functions. He is very different from many other Presidents who speak to the media, sometimes it looks like Bucky wears more than one hat.

The club does sit on their hands a bit, Bucky once told me they don't want to appear like whingers and would rather cop it on the chin and get on with it. I good example of this was when Veterans Rule changed for our club, although it was part of our initial agreement to entry for a certain period we didn't seem too bothered when the rules were changed on us. No fight from the club only makes us look like an easy club to rape.

We always fight the tribunal for an appeal and we never win, the AFL must laugh every time we put up the money - the beers are on us.

The only person that really speaks out is Mark Williams while Bucky answers questions and Greg Boulton is good for making speeches while having some chardonnay.

Yep fair enough, he did speak about the club not being held to ransom and he has gone on the radio to refute Max's version of what happened .. altho Max and Nick have had ample opportunity to put forward their "version", and I guess he can't jump on it every time. But I think the club could've gone harder about putting forward their version as well as a case for compensation, even if it needed to be couched in more altruistic terms.

I think Bucky is the best football administrator in the AFL bar none. He does his job exceptionally well, well out of the limelight. Other club leaders might rant and rave more, but Bucky gets the job done, which you gotta admire. I hope he stays at Port for many years to come.

Bucky usually does have something to say when it needs to be said. I do agree that some topics should not be left to Choco to make a comment on when he could concentrate on his coaching.
As for Boulton, I would rather have him than a loud mouth president, like um ........many.

Just remember everyone, We would still be in the SANFL if it wasnt for these two blokes...

Could you imagine what it would be like still going to the sanfl these days to watch the PAFC..How difficult would it be..it would be like being a Norwood supporter...Knowing how close they were , but being relegated to purgatory forever...

I know watching the PAMFC is still fun and it really fires up my memory to when we use to play in the SANFL, but Bucky and Boulton, should be thanked for doing the hard yards to get us out of the SANFL and into the AFL....

My final word

Bruce Weber.

Okay, its not, I just thought of more. Yes, Bucky and Greg Boulton did a ****load of work in getting us into the AFL, and because they needed to be non-controversial to do to so they were perfect for the job. However, the job has changed.

We are now full citizens of the AFL. Acting nicely-nicely doesn't get you much from my observation - being a squeaky wheel that requires grease for even the simplest agreements is the way to go, and we're not set up for that.

If we had just one diplomat of the two, then fair enough, but I reckon we need someone with a bit more fire than Mr and Mr Agreeable.

I agree to an extent but I think it has a bit to do do with our September efforts over the last couple of years as well as keeping in line with how the club has dealt with events throughout it's history.

I'm sure once some 'real' success comes our way we'll see our administration showing some real Port Adelaide arrogance in the media.

Bucky is the backbone of the club. Any body whom has had to deal with Brian will know for a fact how good a man he is.
Any mess he sorts it out:) , any problems he always listens, all ways helps and nothing is to much trouble.

A true gentleman, whom the AFL will never get to benefit from, but whom PAFC will grow only bigger and be better with.

A Port Man though and though, so many could learn from him (some really should take a leaf out of his book)
. In my eyes, no one does more for the club than this man.

I sent the club an email a few years ago, suggesting improvement to the dining area. I couldn't believe it when Bucky himself phoned me from his mobile, in his car, on the way to a meeting.....no other club would have someone who does that.

I'm glad that we have a someone who is well respected, rather than a John Elliott or Eddie McGuire who dominate/d the media and detract from the real issues. Let the footy do the talking.....PLEASE.

Last year we bumped into Greg Boulton in the lift at Telstra Stadium, for the Essendon game. He introduced himself to us, said how glad he was to see us and made sure we were right for tickets etc....We didn't approach him, he approached us. Anyway we were very impressed.

I think those guys are what sets our club apart from most of the others, particularly our SA foes. I'm glad for the difference personally.....
