Ok people, it's the off season for the greatest sport in the world so why not start writing previews for the TNA PPV's. This is also an attempt to get some more discussion going before TNA's biggest event of the year.

Impact Wrestling's Bound For Glory 2011
Location: Liacouras Center, Philadelphia
Expected Attendance: 7,000-9,000

It's Impact Wrestling's biggest event of the year, perhaps even in their entire history, when they take their version of Wrestlemania on the road to Philadelphia in what could make or break the company. After several months of buildup, and maybe years in regards to Sting/Hogan, TNA has a huge chance to put on one of the best PPV's in the last few years. It has been a long and sometimes over criticized road to get to this point, with a heap of face and heel turns and some illogical booking that can only be found in TNA. All that is forgotten though when October the 16th rolls around, where TNA proves it is one of the best promotions in the world today.

Well the rejuvenated X-Division is back with strong and formidable Austin Aries taking on the blubbering, stuttering, parachute pant wearing, wizard of odd Brian Kendrick. The new found attention the X-Division is now receiving from upper management at Impact has really pushed it to another level. Certain wrestlers also have to be praised for making it work, with Kid Kash and Aries probably the strongest heels in the company at the moment. This feud all started when Aries won his Impact contract, and #1 contender tag, at Destination-X while Kendrick was busy taking away the title from Immortal's Abyss. Aries is my favorite wrestler in the business right not and it would be a great shame if he were to drop the title, even though the blow off is meant to be the face getting the win and the title. The Kendrick act is tiresome and has no appeal what so ever but both will bring their best and it could be a MOTY candidate. I'm hoping Aries gets the win, as Impact needs an X-Division title reign with some meaning and prestige.
Prediction: Austin Aries by Pinfall

Now I have to admit I watch very little of the women's division in TNA as it holds absolutely no interest to me. If anyone would like to write a preview for this then by all means go for it and I'll happily put it in the opening post. This basically has been a long and slow build up where we now have all four major players in the Women's division fighting for the Knockouts title. Winter, for some unknown reason, dropped the title after a week or two against Mickie James before regaining at No Surrender. The title is ping ponging around and holds zero meaning at the moment but a four way is the way to go (don't be dirty folks :p). I'm hoping to god they dont give the title to Velvet Sky, and decide to put the belt back on Rayne. My care factor is that low though so it doesnt matter.
Prediction: Winter with interference from Love.

The once amazing Impact Wrestling Tag Team division is now long gone with Beer Money pursuing singles careers, Generation Me getting released and the Motor City Machine Guns forced to the stands through injury. The British Invasion could be a great tag team but are forced to sit out and watch the proceedings (I really miss Douglas Williams). Mexican America holds little interest to most but have a major chance to use the spotlight of this years event to show everyone what they can do. Ink Inc are a young and upcoming team who bring some flair with a bit of punk/hardness to the depleted division and this should be their time to shine. Like most feuds in Impact Wrestling, it's nationality vs nationality and I suspect the team of Ink Inc will be going home tag team champions.
Prediction: Ink Inc. by pinfall

bfg4.jpg

Impact Wrestling 2011 MVP: Bully Ray. Enough said really. He is perhaps the best heel in wrestling today and this is after many had serious doubts on whether he could be a singles star. What he has done is really a remarkable achievement. Over 20 years in tag team wrestling, a champion of the division, and after one year in singles competition, is the #1 heel player in TNA. Anderson's career on the other hand has hit a downward spiral, and he hasn't been helped with the constant face and heel turns his character has had to make. One thing we do know is that this will be an absolute brawl from the get go and thats where Ray comes to the show. His last man standing match with AJ Styles earlier in the year is my MOTY in TNA for 2011 so far, and this could go very close to matching it. Anderson is no AJ though and will have to bring his best in front of his home crowd. I like the booking, the stipulation, and everything about this so expecting a tough and hard bout. I'd love to see Bully Ray walk away with the win while making Anderson look strong in defeat but it might go the other way. I hope not.
Prediction: Bully Ray by Pinfall in the casino somewhere.

AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels. It's something we have seen plenty of times over the years but unlike other feuds, this one never seems to get old. They have a huge moveset and seem to bring something fresh and new to every match they have. The I Quit stipulation was a little left field but they have had the Iron Man matches, the Ultimate X matches, two out of three falls etc etc. The I Quit will just add to the intrigue and interest of the match and this could be brutal. As most on this board know, I'm a huge mark for AJ Styles. I think he could be the #1 guy of the company and his title run in 2009, if done in 2011 against the likes of Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray, could have made him a superstar. Instead he has been left to put on quality match after quality match in the middle of the card, taking a back seat to ex WWE superstars. Saying all this, I really dont mind who walks away with the win here. AJ wins and most walk away happy. On the other hand, Daniels wins and we might finally see him contending for the World Title in the coming months. I like how Impact is pushing the homegrown talent and maybe it is Christopher Daniels time to fly.
Prediction: Christoper Daniels and a MOTY candidate.

Wow, this is going to be wild my friends. RVD and Jerry Lynn is also something ECW fans would be quite familiar with throughout the years and a Full Metal Mayhem match could see this being one of the matches of the year. I'm not exactly sure what they are going to hang at the top of the ladder but who cares? Their match at Destination X had some amazing mat chemistry and is the main reason behind the classics they have put on over the years. I have to confess, I was too young to even know what ECW was but their feud at Destination X left me wanting more. The chair came in at around the 15 minute marks but two minutes later, the match was over. Give these guys 20+ minutes and we could have one amazing, bloodied street fight on our hands. Hardcore ECW fans are going to love this.
Prediction: RVD and a MOTY candidate.

Who'd have thought we'd be seeing this match in 2011 after their debacle at Starrcade 1997? The stipulation for this is now No Disqualification which just screams RUN INS, REF BUMPS and all sorts of wild stuff. The company is also on the line with Dixie Carter taking back control if Sting wins. I'd be lying if I said i'm excited about this but I actually am looking forward to seeing how they work it. Will Hogan take any bumps after his seven back surgeries? What happens if Hogan injures himself half way through? How do they make this work? Is there any chance of Hogan winning? I hope this doesn't become an Ultimate Warrior/Hogan match that completely tarnished an otherwise great Halloween Havoc 1998, as it really could kill this PPV. The match isn't going to be a 5 star classic but they need to have the crowd red hot right from the start like The Rock vs Hogan at Wrestlemania. That match was a complete dud, but the crowd and excitement turned it into a moment no one will ever forget. That has to be their goal.
Prediction: Sting by pinfall after outside interference from Dixie Carter.

It's the biggest moment of Bobby Roode's career. World Heavyweight Title on the line, against one of the greats Kurt Angle, in front of 8,000+ screaming fans. A great match here and this could turn Roode into an instant star. A lot has been made of Bobby's 13 years in the business and how long he has had to wait for a shot at the biggest title in the company. And he was made to earn it through the BFG Series and his matches against the whole of Fourtune. I had some doubts over his in ring single abilities after the BFG Series but has gotten better and better with every match against his Fourtune compatriots. His recent bout against James Storm was a very good Impact match and I have no doubts he is ready to be the top star in the company, even though it has been a little rushed. I hope they keep this one on one for the entirety of the match but I suspect a ref bump will come about at some point. Part of me says Roode SHOULD win, hence he won't. Afterall, this is TNA. But the whole point of the BFG Series is pushing new stars and the months of build up would have been a massive waste if Roode werent to walk out the Heavyweight Champion.
Prediction: Roode via submission. MOTY candidate.

Final Words: There is no doubt TNA has a huge chance to cash in on new and old fans tuning in for what should be Hogan's final match in the squared circle. The attraction might just make the casual fan fall in love with the AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Bully Rays. This really is a huge opportunity and I sense every wrestler involved will be at the top of their game for this huge event. I have predicted four MOTY possibilities, quite farfetched you may think for a company that has struggled throughout the year to gather one MOTY candidate. But something tells me this is different. Definitely look at getting this, even if you have little to no faith after the Victory Road debacle. I'm giving them one more chance, and then it's live streams if they fail me again. Nine years on, it's time to shine TNA.

So what are your predictions?

Note: Matches may be added to card. Previews will be added for those when they are confirmed. Cheers.

Re: Preview: Bound For Glory (2011)

Just watched TNA for the first time in ever, was the one where Hogan was retiring or some crap then Sting came out showed some vid now they are "Fighting" at BFG.

Just wanna know, WTF are these two doing to their careers!? I mean sting is now the Joker?! Hogan (Overrated performer) still wresting, as is sting I guess?

Tag Title match bumped to the pre-show

Usually that would be disappointing but considering who's involved, not a massive loss.

Awesome write up Pera. :thumbsu:

Tag Title match bumped to the pre-show

So that's seven matches on the proper PPV at the moment. Hoping they leave it like this so that most go in excess of 13 or 14 minutes. I suspect though that Samoa Joe vs Crimson vs Matt Morgan will be added.

Re: Preview: Bound For Glory (2011)

Hogan V Sting was more of a trainwreck then i ever imagined

This would be bullshit to anyone who paid money for this

Typical TNA PPV, brilliant X Division match, main events ruined with terrible booking, i dont care if Hogan was supposed to turn face (they've been building towards it) The way it happened was absolutly shithouse, with Hogan destroying immortal and sting sucking his dick.

Roode was being built up as a credible champion, and they give Angle the win, FFS

Re: Preview: Bound For Glory (2011)

Thought the whole PPV was great until the ending

Roode should of won it, his big moment should of been at their biggest PPV of the year in front of a massive crowd, not in the ****ing Impact Zone.

Re: Preview: Bound For Glory (2011)

Most reviews I've seen have rated it very highly, and the crowd reaction was really impressive (including for Jeff Hardy, silly bingo cards notwithstanding). Depends on where you look, I guess.

Re: Preview: Bound For Glory (2011)

Christy Hemme, please make a sex tape.

As for Bound for Glory, great show. It would of been even better without the screwy finish in the main event. Bobby Roode should of gone over.

Re: Preview: Bound For Glory (2011)

Great X-Division opener followed by another great match from Lynn and RVD. GET ARIES IN MAIN EVENT PLZ! :thumbsu: He was the heel and got more of a face reaction than Kendrick. Turn him face, let him face Kid Kash at the next PPV while we're at it.

Daniels and Styles led to a massive WTF from all my mates, including myself. So the biggest show of the year, has a shithouse ending like that?

The ladies match was a clusterf*** if i've ever seen it. And Velvet Sky is Knockouts champion? WTF!

Sting vs Hogan - was something I actually enjoyed while watching but when it was all over, I was thinking to myself two years of build up and they put all that to rest to unleash Hulkamania all over again. Are you kidding me? So Hogan loses the company, then decides to HELP Sting? And he attacks Bischoff?

Roode doesnt win the title, enough said really. I said it in my preview - he should win, but being TNA, he probably won't. They might go with a Christian/Randy Orton story line where he wins it later down the track.

Anderson and Ray was OK but the table not breaking soured the ending.

Crowd was hot the entire night. If I was TNA, I'd go 6 PPV's a year and take all of them on the road. Who actually buys PPV's like Victory Road, Sacrifice, Hard Justice etc etc.

I dont know what to think of this show. I actually enjoyed watching it at times but at others, I just scratched my head. Hoping they pick things up at the Impact tapings this week. Money well spent sort of.

Overall Show: 7/10

LAST MINUTE CHANGE TO TNA BOUND FOR GLORY PPV AND WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-10-17 10:34:34

As we discussed on the TNA Bound for Glory Post-Game show last night in the PWInsider Elite section, the original plan for the PPV was for Bobby Roode to defeat Kurt Angle for the TNA championship to close the PPV. The story going around was that yesterday afternoon, Hulk Hogan lobbied to have the finish changed, feeling that Roode wasn't ready for a run with the title. So, the finish was changed.

Between that and the AJ Styles stuff in the last few days, there was a lot of resentment towards Hogan among the long time members of the roster. The resentment was especially at a high because Hogan was ripping on Styles on Twitter when everyone knew Styles had missed the TNA Fan Interaction event due to a death in the family.

One running joke I heard after the PPV, which to a person, everyone agreed wasn't a strong show, was whether roster talents could "request a transfer" to Jeff Jarrett's new India project.

Tommy Dreamer was backstage at Bound for Glory.
