Bowden has always Been outspoken.. the comment below

"Perhaps if we're not competitive maybe there's changes made to personnel or changes made to the structure or the system that we're trying to implement," he said on Tuesday.

This is one of the most dangerous comments a player could make about it's team, and I'm fairly angry that he has made it.
Although most on here agree and to a certain extent I do to with his comments, for a senior player to make that statement is stepping way over the line.

He is basically finger pointing to other players and the game plan and in-turn putting doubts in the minds of all the players. The players then look for excuses all around to defend their poor performance.
Bowdens job is NOT to have an opinion... his job is to play his part for the good of the side and to adhere to the instructions of the football department. He needs to pull his head in, wether or not he thinks the game plan is good or bad. Show leadership.

Comments like these makes me think the cracks are starting to open and the players are losing faith in TW.... at a time when we shouldn't be making excuses but knuckling down and getting on with the job.

So you just wnat to be competitive Joel, you don't want to win. There is the problem right there.

I don't really understand why anyone would try and copy it to be honest. I think it is universally accepted that Geelong were the better team last year, and had they kicked straight it in the GF it would have been almost over at 1/2 time.

He shouldn't be stating anything... thats my point. He said that "we should" make changes... infact what he is really saying is that "I think we should make changes" and that really has NOTHING to do with him.
What we dont need is factions with in the club breaking rank.... we need to be untited, and his comments are way out of line.

Bowden is one of our most expendable players along with McMahon. He had 9 clangers I heard on Thursday, that is horrible. Should be dropped no matter what he says.

What Joel should have said.

" I was very disapointed in my own performance and the teams.... we are working hard this week to turn it around. We need to have faith in our game plan and in what we worked so hard on over summer and stick tight as a group. We know we are under the pump and Geelong are in great form so we need to be %100 focused on what our roles are."

Bowdens comments STINKS... it's like saying "oh well that didn't work... lets just give up and try something else.... cant be my fault."

You're overreacting, if you read the whole article he does acknowledge he needs to lift his game too. However, he should be dropped for some youth.

i think everybody is OVERreacting just a shade.

Bowden is a smart fellow who's been in the game a long time, and he's not saying anything that everyone else isn't thinking.

give the guy a break, IMO there'd be about 15 players to drop before him.

last year after he saved the essendon game (after his backline collegues nearly blew it), won the brisbane game, and took a big mark in the port game nobody was questioning his attitude.

we're a joke around the league because we eat our own. FFS it's only round 2 and you've all turned on one of the senior players.

the comments are spot on. anyone could see from the practice games that they were going nowhere with the wallace game plan. he keeps moving players around all over the place and destablised everything.the skills are down on every other club after so long at the wheel.

wallace never developed anyone as a small forward. he has tambling and edwards avaiable and they are used in all sorts of positions that are beyond there capabilities except as the small forward.
