Since I was sitting on the bummers side of the ground, there was so much booing and shouting and angry voices being shouted at Bowden at the 30 minute mark.
The stuff that they shouted was hilarious.

"YOU'RE SOFT BOWDEN!"
"YOU'RE SPINELESS!"
"YELLOW VERTICAL DOWN THE BACK BECAUSE YOU'RE SPINELESS" (wat???)

As the siren went, there was much anger at Bowden but it was truly bliss just looking at their faces of anger and disappointment after their heckling.

Ahhhh watching their hatred was fantastic....I laughed like a schoolgirl and I loved every minute of it

I've got a mate who follows the bummers and I was just sorry he wasn't sitting next to me when Joel was rushing it through. Bowden had obviously got the message about how much time was left. Takes a lot of guts to play like that with the crowd screaming at you. Good stuff.

lmao @ ABC grandstand got a few snippets of talkback and it was all Tiger fans blasting the biased nature of the commentary leaning towards essendon (didn't listen to the call, watched at the pub). Morphett then proceeds to bring up the 3 point rushed behinds in the pre-season comp and says "essendon would have won" - his mates were going on about how 'we could talk about this all night'.

Anyone who has any sort of problem with this is an idiot.

1. There was nothing to kick to maybe Essendon shouldnt have flooded forward
2. Behinds are regularly rushed through-out games
3. Time is regularly wasted late in games by all 16 teams in the league
3. Laycock should have kicked straight then there wouldnt have been a problem

Joel done what he had to do I have no issue at all very pleased with the win.

was great to get a win with only playing a half of footy. usually when we play a great first half and a shocking 2nd half - we get beaten by 5-10 goals (see adelaide, carlton, Geelong match)

When it got down to 5 points I thought that if we turned it over and the Bombers goaled than Bowden would have been lynched.

But thinking about it on the way home, Essendon Football Club whingers have to realise one thing.

THE RICHMOND FOOTBALL CLUB'S LEAD WAS RICHMOND'S TO DO WITH IT WHAT WE LIKED.
We could chip it around.
We could attack, kick goals and build on the lead.
We could even rush the ball through enough times until the Bombers were in front, if we wanted to.

It was OUR LEAD. We owned it. We could do what we liked with it.
The Bombers had to take it off us.
The Bombers supoorters whinged all game.
Suck it in.
We rogered you. slow and deep.
Stick some cream up there to ease the pain.

bottom line is if you had of lost this match then finals hopes are over for you, it was a very important match in the context of the season and you guys did everything you could to win it. screw the "spirit of the game" and all of that, you do what you do to win..

i still really doubt you guys will make the finals given your next month or so of football. brisbane geelong adel (home), hawthorn. thats a bloody tough month of football.. but hell anything can happen

Brisbane is a weaker side when they travel, Adelaide is tough but beatable and if the Saints can run over Hawthorn then they may not be as tough as everyone thought.

It will be a tough four weeks. But not as tough as it looked a few weeks ago.

I went with my Dad and told him that Joel would rush the first one. Then after that, I said he'd do it again. I thought I'd be right but suprised it actually happened.

I liked it. I'd hate for the other team to do it to us obviously.

I'm suprised no other teams have done it earlier though.

i'm happy to get 4 points (premiership points that is) anyway we can.... i wasn't sure about how much time was actually being wasted and my only issue with the tactic is it shifts momentum away from us

Brisbane and Adelaide both have tough runs home as well. And ours isn't bad when you include the last 2 weeks (Freo here and then Melbourne). We need to win at least 2 of the next 4 to still be in touch. I'm hopeful we can beat both the Lions and Crows, both 8 point games. Do that and we are right there in the mix.

BRILLIANT TACTIC IVE BEEN CALLING FOR THIS TO BE USED FOR MONTHS

Next one we have to do is take a mark 40 metres out
let the man go back as far as the umpire will allow before playing on
Clear every one out, than take a step off the line of the mark
umpire calls play on with 15m seperation from ball carrier to nearest opponent, than jog backwards wait for the opposition to run the distance than rush the behind
