Who will play on Gumbleton and Neagle?
Gumbleton will be too much for Thornton. The 3rd tall suits him.

You really are clutching at straws, tell what has Fumbleton done in the last two weeks, Essendon are the laughing stock of round 2..Gumbleton will be too much for Thornton. The 3rd tall suits him.
Rumours going around that he was sore though I think he was omitted. After the farce yesterday one of Neagle or Laycock will definitely come in. More likely to be Neagle.Assuming Neagle comes back into the side...
Kicked 2.2 yesterday and led strongly all day. Dukes were much better then Round 1. Only played 7 games. You really are clutching at straws, tell what has Fumbleton done in the last two weeks, Essendon are the laughing stock of round 2..

I understand your Thornton comment but Gumbleton's endurance and height will worry him.
What you would not have seen on the TV yesterday was the number of times Gumbleton had found space on his opponent but did not have the ball kicked to him. They won't ignore him this week.Thornton is quite athletic for a bloke who stands at 192cm. If Gumbleton was clunking 12 marks and kicking 4-5 goals a game, then I might be concerned, but really, he hasn't done that much in the 1st couple of games this year.
Kind of disagree HBF. These days he either does not have the physical pace or mental desire to stick with a bloke up the field close enough to prevent him getting the ball (although he puts up a great show of being disappointed) and then if his player does not get the ball he again cannot or chooses not to double back fast enough to assist the rest of the def or stick on his man pushing back into the fwd 50. Anchored within the 50m arc he can hold his own mostly but otherwise he just seems not mobile enoughThornton is quite athletic for a bloke who stands at 192cm. From ignored to focal point in a week. Extraordinary.![]()
Waite's endurance, reach and athleticism would render Gumbleton useless.
Rather play him forward and stretch their defense.
