still prefer him over atkins or dalhaus in the foward line though.

he has a pretty good handball. I will give him that.
Hahaha now you’re replying to your own dribble, excellent. It’s like you are having a nice little conversation…with yourself!

How about his shimmy, roving of packs, snaps on goals.

he is weak to non existent in all. Lucky he doesn’t play foward pocket.

oh sh*t.

close should build up his fitness and aim to become a mid. It might suit him better.
Sorry this is the Brad Close thread. I think you're looking for the Luke Dahlhaus thread

Sort of indicates he can leap and mark, perhaps its not his best talent, perhaps he is just playing the role and has been told its not his job to fly against our big guys. What I want to see is what he is like when around the ball and maybe even moving into the backline.

The thing I am not over wrapped in ...his preponderance to wear the long sleeves. Why? Is it a lack of definition or another reason.

Seeds - have you ever coached Football?
Sure he's not as flashy as some with a "shimmy" but he plays his role and his attributes - clean hands , quality disposal, reading of the play and decision making are exceptional for a guy with a handful of games. He's building nicely and is exactly the type we need around our other forwards.
He's unselfish too - could have had a few more goals himself but has done the team thing on several occasions.
He's worth a lot more than the sum of his parts  :thumbsu:

I think you're right on the pack marks. He has 4 guys in that forward line over 194cm. Needs to stay front and centre or out the back

Turns 23 next month and still yet to average 1 goal a game. Needs to improve further to be any more than a depth player

Second year player averaging 0.9 goals per game ain't actually that bad

Miers is our only small forward to actually average 1 goal per game across the last 3 seasons, so pretty fair efforts by Close in comparison

In an interview i'm sure he said he just liked the long sleeves as a junior, and it's a habit now. No real reason he does it.

Thks for that. While they are legal , then its up to him. One lace ups were legal and then the choice was removed. In the past guys like Robbie Walls would not have played him but things have changed. And I dislike an imposition on him if thats a legal choice.

I'd suggest he, and others like him, not only never coached but never played. Not even a pick up game in high school.
Lack of general understanding of the game is obvious.

Yep we see in that footage where he has the longs on for Glenelg.
Grew up in Mt Gambier. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Lucky he doesn’t play in a puffy jacket!

I don’t think reading of the play is exceptional. if they were he would be finding the ball more at hawkins, Rohan’s and Cameron’s feet. He never does. He doesn’t find much of the ball.

i think he has great work ethic. He doesnt seem to get overawed by pressure and he has a good handball. He ain’t fast. But he aint slow.

he lacks the mobility to quickly turn onto his dominant foot and snap a shot on goal. this is a huge limitation for a foward pocket. He always looks for the handball as a result and therefore Relies on others to finish off. it puts a low ceiling on his ability to excel as a small foward despite his strengths.
