Tigers coming off 2 losses so they hit the panicky Saints with a finals type pressure they couldn't handle. I think it's a fair result of where the two teams sit at this stage. Maybe Ratten can take them to another level but it's hard to see where the improvement will come from.

Ch7 also deserve a special mention for their post match 'entertainment', just electric, with Darcy, Selwood and Watson.

Are these three guys the biggest spuds on TV at the moment.
If C7 are going this way with their commentary team, people will just switch off even faster than they are now.

What's really fascinating is Brad ended up being forced out of a shitshow in Adelaide, only to end up at the team which is probably the story of the first month with how much they've imploded onfield.

I had a healthy respect for Ratten as a coach.
Seeing the Saints this year is damaging his credentials badly. They wont make the 8
I thought he was going to make Brouch a very good player but their whole team has gone backwards this year.

He should be used to rocking up at a club that adds players and then goes backwards

I agree. Not fussed that he left. Looking forward to see what Berry and Pedlar can bring to the table in his absence. Culture wise I think we’re better off without him too.
Here is a thought..i will put up my hand here..i was ropeable with the garbage compo pick we got for brad however we then used that pick to take berry who looks like he is going to be a very good player. Had we got a better pick we may have been outside the hitting zone for berry and not ended up getting him. So in the end has getting that pick done us a favor because of how berry is projecting?.

I just think Brad wasn’t a good fit for the club and now he’s gone

There is nothing stopping us from pulling trigger on Pedlar and Cook earlier with the better pick and getting Berry two picks higher.

It seems we've managed to replace Crouch with a midfield prospect that looks like he's well on track to end up hitting a similar echelon of performance as Brad, and likely fits Nick's idea on football better. Overall, it's looking ok at the moment, which considering how bad the start was (and that deal still is, as we sold our best midfielder cheaply), is a tick to Hamish and co.

I thought at the time it was better to let him walk for a variety of reasons. Even if we got zero compo.

But not going to get too carried away two games in. He could easily come out and dominate the next few games and then the Saints look like the smart ones again. It’s a four year deal not a two game deal.

He's not a good fit for the saints either. He's more of what they already had. Oldest list in the league and headed for many years of pain. We are closer to a flag than them.
I would not mind if GC suns were able to prize Max King out to go up there (when just about every saints fan was chirping about getting Ben King to head to Moorabin)..get some reverse player poaching when the saints start their tumble backwards

Another typical Brad Crouch game last night, 25 touches that look great on the stats sheet however no real impact on the game

I have no actual proof/evidence of this, but always felt St Kilda screwed you guys over with regards to how much they were going to pay Crouch p/a (ie went back on their word) so you would not get band 1 compo.

The whole scenario really smelt fishy to me.

I'm less sympathetic. Our footy department head is a greenhorn who got absolutely played. Adam Kelly has a debt to pay us afaic.

I do think it sucks that there was seemingly no mechanism for us to get compo in the middle of the first round though. I reckon pick 13 or 14 would have been fair. I don't see how people could complain it was too much as we would have ended up with a pick in the early 20's due to the academy picks anyway. I don't think anyone in their right mind could argue pick 27 is fair for a player of Crouch's calibre.

Last year everyone in Victoria were telling us this is what he was worth. This year many Adelaide fans are agreeing this is his worth.

Who is left thinking Brad is worth a mid first round pick?

Brad was never worth band 1. His performance has never been worth it. His salary was never worth it.

Anyone who thought we were getting band 1 was extremely deluded.

I think pick 13 would have been fair value at the time and I said that in the thread on here. I don't think it's fair to retroactively argue he's worth less because he's not lighting it up at St Kilda in 2021.

Nah, they are paying his worth. His game last night was what he have seen every week. Nice stats, but minimal impact.

He was the best mid in the worst midfield in the league.

We needed to break thatt midfield up and pushing him out was the first step.

Matt may join him if he can't evolve.

Laird and Sloane have evolved, so there is hope for MCrouch.

The real loser is Brad. Had we wanted to keep him he would no doubt be on $800k plus.

Brouch is looking like one of the Saints best players already imo. That's not saying much.
Never mind, with some early draft picks from a low finish their young list will no doubt imp...... oh, sh*t.
:D
Probably their best mid behind Steele. Only one of his three games so far could be considered good though. As others have mentioned, he seems to pick and choose when to ramp up his defensive pressure. He was a tackling machine in the WCE game and a shadow of that last night.

I think it's fair to look back and say, 'Yep, the people saying he was worth a pick in the 20s were probably right'.

And I was hoping for pick 2 back then 🤣
