Seems like it, some Hawks fans clinging to the idea that you can bundle spuds to get quality (although in this case its bundle decent players to get extreme quality)

Hill is a lesser version of Jetta, 2nd rounder
Litherland is/was promising 2nd maybe late 1st
Shoey meh, 2nd rounder
Hawks first pick lets say 14-18 range

So they essentially want to trade 3 2nd rounders + 1 late first rounder for a late first rounder and pick 3-6
Or to even that out, 3 2nd round picks for pick 3-6.

If anything Adelaide/Freo would be better off simply doing Jenkins for Neale + steak knives either way, and avoiding Hawk involvement in that deal at all.
Then Hawks can give their 1st rounder / work out some other trade for crouch seperately.
That's a pretty generous value of the hawk bundle.

How many teams would pay a 2nd rounder for Shoenmakers?

Neale is one of the premier midfielders in the competition and would warrant a top 5 selection alone. (contract and that change the circumstance)

It is generous but not outrageous. I think he graded the players that way to state even at max value that trade still favours the Hawks by quite a bit.

Anyway I think that trade is one to disregard and move on, no point discussing it further.

Yeah I admit I was generous, but just shows how ridiculous the suggested trade was, even if we assessed the players at the maximum they could possibly go for it still wasn't fair...

Exactly how I saw it.

Either way, I think Crouch is probably still worth something around the mid to late first round even with his injuries.
As he's out of contract is unlikely you'll get his upper end value, so lets say late first very early 2nd is what he'd probably fetch.

Unfortauntely as we all pretty much know players have all the power even without free agency, will depend on the club he chooses if he leaves.

In the unlikely even that Crouch leaves, this wouldn't be a bad result. I've always rated Dumont.

So do we, but we won't be surprised if he asks to be traded for more opportunities. He deserves a crack and our mob refuse to give him the games. I'd hate to lose him but it is what it is.

I'd hate to lose Dumont, he is one of the most talented natural young footballers on our list, but the fact is a late first rounder from north wouldn't get it done so we'd have to throw in some quality. Dumont + our first would be overs imo so your 2nd sweetens the deal.

If Crouch can get his body right he could develop into an A-grader.

I agree with all of that.

I still don't think Crouch is leaving town however. Even less likely to leave than Jenkins.

Murdoch/GHS? Both SA boys that can't crack our best 22 but neither can Crouch.

He's injury prone, so right up our ally and I think he's better upside then GHS has.

I dont think so. Cant see that being acceptable to either club. Can we really afford to taken on a hospital history type anyway? We have had enough of the injury riddled types.

I would be seriously unimpressed with the Crows if we lost Crouch, but especially if we dealt him to Geelong for those two duds. Just because they're South Australian doesn't mean we want them.

If we unwillingly lose one more quality player then our club needs another clean out. It's beyond a joke.

Crouch has the potential to be our best player, unlike GHS/Murdoch. His confidence is just shot because of the weight of expectation and his injuries which sidelined him for 18 months.

I never think so, but the club has a history of trading injury prone players with "upside".

FYI I don't think we really need him if Scooter comes good. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Id considered the same thing..GHS etc... I just think the Scooter recruitment is just bearable atm as he was FA. If it was a trade....!!!
No ..I think if Adelaide have supported him thru a lot of injuries.. I hope he gets fit and gives them a bit back.

Would Crows take Pick 19?
Hell no. The second we get rid of him is the second he gets over his injuries and starts to dominate.

Pick 19 becomes a pick in the mid twenties when you factor in the academy flogs, and he's worth far more to us than that.

If he desperately wants to go, then we should be working him and our first round pick and maybe some other sweetener into trying to get pick 1 from you. Either that or swap him for your first rounder next year, as I expect you will improve.

where it ends up means little.
Its not like you lose access to a kid you would otherwise take. its purely an order thing come draft night, but you are right. 19 is unders for his potential.

Would wait to see where we land with picks post other trades.
But would be very keen. Kid has talent.

Sounds like us with David Myers.
One day.

Is s. Selwood injured?

Is s. Selwood injured?

He came to us injured , needing a ankle reco. Geelong have taken a very long view on his fitness. It was expressed that he played to much the lat year or two on an bad ankle , much better to take the time to get it medically right. He has now started to train with the group, and within the next two week will probably be up for VFL games. Geelong will probably want him to play multiple VFL games..so it will be late in the year if we are to see him... but he may present as a very fresh def mid come finals.

My point is he cost nothing as a FA.. so its only list space and dollars. If we brought in a player that cost us picks or players in trade..that had injuries or issues that prevent him playing.. that could make it quite difficult to swallow. I guess you would know about that with Bennell.
