Hannebery was on $800k and went for a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick. Patton is on the same and will go for even less. Scully was apparently on around ~$500-600k and went for a 4th round pick.

All of those were salary dumps, but it seems pretty clear that the value of contracts don't mean too much in the context of a trade.

I don’t understand why people think this. Contract value is obviously tied to what a club thinks a players worth is, or at least it is at the time it was offered/signed.

You contradicted your own argument, Hannebery doesn’t count because as you say, it was a salary dump, his contract was representative of his perceived value when signed, not when he was traded.
That situation is not comparable to Crouch’s because this contract offer, not a pre-existing one.

Wingard is supposedly on around the same as Polec but got us near twice what North paid in trade value.

Is this the Nat Fyfe thread or the Brad Crouch thread ?

FMD the guy has played 83 games in 7 years , There is no guarantee's he will get to another 100 games with his injury record
Injuries dont get better as you get older.

If paying this type of $$$$ you wait until he is a free agency but im pretty sure the crows are the ones encouraging his manager to see what he can get before they sell
Then why was/is Richmond so keen to get him?
Better get on to the club and warn them of their error.

End of first would probably be crouch's compensation pick I believe, so a first round pick will do it. Think SEN has probably been scrounging bigfooty for rumors about the GC move.

Would assume it would be after our pick... you would think wage would be 700-800k if plays another full season.. def in the top tier bracket

So why did you want so much for O'mera?
Without commenting on their play styles the obvious differences between the pair are
Had 2 injury affected years not 7.
Was ~22/23 at the time not 25/26

O'meara trade wa pick 10 and Hawthorn future second rounder from memory.
Thats not far off the mark for Crouch either.
Just because he is a massive injury risk doesn't mean I wouldn't offer something up for him.

If we could land pick 8 as part of Carlton deal for Martin then I'd be happy offering that - similar value to O'Mearas trade.

No, you need to start an online petition to stop your club making the terrible mistake of trading for Crouch. You need to get this info to them right away.

The GC rumours are legit. Been in the works for a little bit of time now.

Crouch very close to accepting the 6 year, 5 mil contract.

Big inside mid perfect fit for Essendon

Dodoro get your head out of your arse and get this bloke to the club.

I've been critical of Dodoro for his list balance, in particular not getting enough decent inside mids.

But no way should he touch Crouch at $1 mill a season. $750k max imo.

I hope it wasn't Crouch's manager who leaked the dollars he's after, makes him look like a money hungry mercenary. Will go to the highest bidder.

Laughable if he thinks he's worth $1m with his injury history.

The whole situation stinks. Obviously not entirely happy staying put though.

Hard to value too. He's not Kelly value... But you can only pay based on what he's done and is likely to do. Not what he should have become.

Are they ?? Where did you hear this as there has been nothing in the media about Crouch/Richmond and all we hear is he is after a god father deal $1 mil x 5 years. Do you believe tigers would pay that with Dusty,Rance,Riewold,Lynch,Cotchin,Prestia etc on the list ?

For him to play for the Tigers his salary would not be more than $600k

You were interested in him last year, after not playing a game the whole season.

Gold Coast are a big chance I'd say..

They are desperate for mature players who can immediately impact. With salary cap exemptions and direct access to The AFL's bank account, they would probably offer him more than any other side... maybe even 1.2 mil + marketing deals and ambassador roles, etc, etc, etc... He could get up to 1.5 mil a year with all that other stuff worked into it, but outside the salary cap, so only 1 to 1.2 mil declared!
